I sense sarcasm. *sniff sniff* Yup, I smell it pretty strong. Yes, I am a preacher. No, I am not a pastor. Is that related to how smart I am? Is that relevant at all?
Thanks, Sister.

Goodness there is that wonderful friendly spirit again, why should anyone preach against it, you are doing a good job yourself, and even it they did, they would be attacked at that position as well, they can only get "loose" to have appeal to that mindset

Re: STARTLING! LARRY BOOKER'S Latest Message!!!(wa
Why are you afraid of consistency? Jesus didn't compromise principle. The apostles didn't compromise principle. Supporting internet while abhoring television is a compromise in principle.
I started a thread once about my core beliefs. Find out whcih principle I listed you disagree with. List which principle I compromised for the sake of convenience. Find out what I take a stand on before assuming I do not have a set of principles.
I know a number of business people who do not use the internet. I know many intelligent and successful people who do not use the internet. There are other options available. The more you try to defend, the more you prove the support of the internet was a compromise in principle. As you put it so eloquently, just pray we made the right decision on this medium. Prayer should have been done before the decision was made. How many times have we heard that the "forefathers" prayed for hours about their views on television. I have never heard anyone say their support of the internet was based on time spent in prayer and fasting. Another point which shows the internet was supported for selfish reaasons. Principle is tossed out like last weeks' leftovers because principle interferes with selfish desires. It's a common trait of legalism. I'm amazed someone with 20/20 vision is able to blur the issues without any sense of remorse.

Banning TV is not the principle. The over-arching principle is promoting a godly environment in our homes. It was an easy choice with TV. Internet is a new age and a new decision to make. Running a business without internet - good luck. Going to school without resources of internet - good luck. Just pray we've made the right decision on this medium. The principle is not an abandonment of mediums. It is a consideration of each one on their own merit.
You've called plenty of names and have spewed some pretty hateful things. All that, and your position against neither tv or internet. Don't look for some legal loopholes, my dear legalist, to show why we shouldn't have a certain position. Get off the consistency high horse. I can point out many on your own side. Of course it is harder with people that don't have a stand. Consistency is seeking God for wisdom to make the right choices about things. Not applying a blanket for all ages to come. That's folly. Your argument stinks. I can understand you don't like anti-TV preachers, but to demean people that are taking a stand where you have not taken any is shameful.

20/20 vision, I'll make it easier on you.
Read the following:
Quote:
I keep getting asked if I am bashing personal convictions. I repeatedly state no. My problem is with legalism. I thought I'd post a list of things my core principles... Which principle seems inconsistent to you?
Here is that list.
Quote:
1. I believe repentance, Jesus name baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
2. I believe in prayer.
3. I believe in Bible reading
4. I believe in witnessing and outreach.
5. I believe in discipling people.
6. I believe Biblical holiness is based on Biblical principles.
7. I believe in One God.
8. I believe a follower of Christ should display the Fruit of the Spirt.
9. I do not see anywhere a clothesline is listed as a Fruit of the Spirit.
10. I believe in modesty, gender separation, and clothing that doesn't draw attention to oneself.
11. I believe in using the same principle for television as I do the internet.
12. I believe in mercy and grace.
13. I believe in love.
14. I believe I love to have some more ice cream.
15. I believe in walking in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
16. I believe in miracles signs and wonders.

Re: STARTLING! LARRY BOOKER'S Latest Message!!!(wa
tv1a, judging by your name I'm sure this is a passionate issue for you.
At the risk of both of us going in circles I'll just stop now. I've addressed the consistency trump card as best I can to you. I've been rather open and candid about what I believe. The consistency is in the principle, not the medium. True. The kicker is you like blankets. I don't. Blanket principle yes. Blanket decisions, no. You like axes. I borrow from Obama, and with the messiness of evil in our world, I prefer the church to use a scalpel on each issue. We take things on one-by-one. With that said, there is great consistency. Both subjects have been thoroughly prayed about and meditated on, and thought out to the betterment of the spiritual community, not to win points on anyone's popularity list.
Pray we make the right choice, and I'll pray you're making the right choice. Deal?
