Really, from my front porch, what you termed the '"status quo" was actually a clear, competent and accurate exegesis of the Scripture we have been discussing.
Do you disagree with his rendering?
Neat front porch elder. Tell me, I hope the view is different than the one from your back porch!
I probably came into this discussion too late, and was in fact responding to my perception of his post rather than the context.
I continually suffer from foot in mouth disease, and covet your prayers.
I didn't say your point wasn't a valid one. But you might try springing it off a different post....LOL...basically Actaeon just quoted scripture and rephrased it.
But that would not excuse me if I decided I would no longer submit to either my pastor or elders. In the judgment, God would not say, "Well, son, I am going to overlook your willfullness and rebellion because I know how bad you were hurt. There, there."
Here comes another revelation: I have been done wrong by some bum, supposed-to-be saints.
Would that excuse me being suspicious of God's people, and mistreating them because of my scars and wounds? Not on your life.
The fact is, God has given us the prescription for dealing with wrongs done to us. It's called forgiveness, and it works every time it's tried.
Yes, I know. You said he amened the "status quo", and the "status quo" he amened was Actaeon's post. Logically, I conclude that the status quo you are referencing is Actaeon's post, which wholehearted amened.

My error, sis. The status quo is the current landscape of religiosity, which includes the "competitive holiness" I see in certain OP factions. I have not read Actaeon's post, I was responding to the blind "amens" so prevalent because no one will say "the emperor has no clothes".
