Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
I dont know, I'm a 3 step conservative but I'm just not buying the plight against trees. I believe in standards but still have a tree.
Hmmmmm, maybe it should be seen in the same light. If your convicted not to do so then don't, but don't condem others if they are not.
Look, anything that gets between you and God is a sin, anything that takes you away from your walk with God. Bro. Price, I don't see how one is "worshipping God" through a tree. I have a tree and lights, but I am still at prayer meeting and services everytime the doors open. I still pray in my little cubby hole upstairs everyday, I haven't started kneeling next to the tree to pray. If you look at my daily life compaired to "the others" you can very much see a seperate lifestyle even with the tree.
I dont worship a bunny on easter but it sure is fun to play the game with the kids. Would it be ok if we played the egg game on another day besides easter ?

I wonder if anyone is paying attention? I am speaking of taking a pagan practice and putting a Christian name to it, and saying it glorifies God. God says such is an abomination.
Let me ask this. Do you think a little paganism in the name of God is OK? Is mixing God with Belial is acceptable to Him? The answer is no, and the fact remains that so-called Christians will stand before a righteous God on judgment with this sin against them. He said for us to have no part dark, and I believe we should strive to be so.
Do you love God? Are you willing to crucify your flesh to the point that what God hates you hate, and what he loves you love? Or, is your love for God accepted only when it is convenient and feels good? I refuse to go back and walk the paths of Hell again. I refuse to compromise and say God is worthy of profane fire and pagan rituals. I love Him too much to be profaned, to be cast out, to be reprobated. I thank God that He is holy, and I want Him to say well done to me. If this means I give up all for Him, then so be it.
Christ-mas is pagan. This has been proven. even the Puritans, those who first came to America, trinitarians, outlawed this pagan celebration. Shall these, though lost, want to be holier than we who have the truth? Lord forbid!
This will be my last post on this subject. I have given all God has placed on my heart. If you accept this, good. If not, then I will stand guiltless before God, because I have warned His people through His Word to come out and be holy.

I can respect that, its a little frightening , but I can respect it.
Personally I don't think your paying attention , your taking this and twisting it into a sin that is non-existant. Nothing of the post here supports your first paragraph.
Besides, Nothing about the tree is intended to give glory to God. I have a BIG living room with lots of furniture. Without the lighted tree Santa would not be able to see where to leave my presents, not to mention he would kill himself over the furniture trying to get there.

Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
Excellent post, Scotty.
Unfortunately, you're wasting your energy typing on this pagan internet that BP so loves.
However, if you wait a week - he'll change his stance, and will see things our way. For a few days.

Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
I think the light-weights feel more holiness when condemning others over a cultural tradition. I'm proud of my European heritage. I don't worship the tree, it's a seasonal decoration. Plain and simple. If someone wants to say it's roots are in paganism (like the steeple on most of our churches), I'd agree. But if they attempt to say that I'm practicing paganism or worshiping an idol, they're distorting the truth. And personally....I think distorting the truth is a far worse sin in God's sight than putting up a decorative tree.

I brought ours home yesterday, set it up, and now my wife and kids are decorating it!
Watching the Packers and Panthers, the fireplace is crackling, I just painted one of our bathrooms, and now I'm sitting down to AFF to try and get spiritual!
