Sorry I have a headache- a good thing?

Migraines cut breast cancer risk 30 percent:

CHICAGO (Reuters) – In a puzzling twist, women who have a history of migraine headaches are far less likely to develop breast cancer than other women, U.S. researchers said on Thursday.

The study is the first to look at the relationship between breast cancer and migraines and its findings may point to new ways of reducing a woman's breast cancer risk, they said.

Re: Sorry I have a headache- a good thing?

Quick Version:

Women with lower estrogen levels are more likely to suffer from migraines during menstruation. Women who have lower estrogen levels have a reduced risk for certain breast cancers. Ergo, women who have hormone induced migraines probably have lower estrogen levels, and are less likely to get some breast cancers.

P.S. Migraines are nothing to sneeze at. I've only had two "major league" headaches, with the nausea, etc., and I don't know how women who suffer from them on a regular basis handle it! The kind of headache that is so bad, your head is actually "sore" the next day, even after the headache is long gone. I'm no whiner, but those buggers will put me straight to bed faster than the flu.

Hmmm...what if they are not related to hormones...would the same decrease in risk apply? I've had migranes for YEARS and when one comes it usually lasts three days and then day 4 I have a really sore spot on the side of my head.
