Re: Bridge City, Tx

tstew - I agree with you- the story about New Orleans was much bigger than the smaller cities in Ms or in Tx. It was about a historic city that was virtually destroyed. The coverage or lack of- for these towns that have suffered just as much is a bitter pill to swallow. These are people that are slowly trying to put their lives back together without the help of the media, Brad Pitt, and in many cases the government.

Yeah, it was actually a surprise to me the first time I went back to Florida along the Gulf Coast states after Katrina. I had been under the impression that New Orleans was virtually the only place destroyed, but there were smaller towns all along the Missississippi coast that were getting almost no pub because they were basically small and unknown.

My neighbor told me this week he went to help a friend of his that lives in Bridge City and had 4 or 5" of sludge in his house from the flooding. He killed 81 water mocassions and had 5 alligators in his home.

Our church saturday fed over a 1,000 people a hot meal that they have not had in weeks. Folks were crying and so thankful.

They said these people have lost everything. ALL their belongings are piled up in front of the street, nothing left.

We are going to feed them again and this time we are also going to have a "free" garage sale, minus the "sale".

I hope this comes together as well as we hope for the needs of these many people.

I am sooooooo thankful God spared me from this kind of disaster.

What a christian spirit...blessing to you, Esther and all the church there. You must have a wonderful pastor.

Yes he is.

There were two other churches that was a part of this saturday. I think one was from Vidor and I'm not sure where the other one is from.

I also understand we lost one of our churches in Baytown, not sure who the pastor is of that assembly.

I knew the church had little or no damage but I didn't realize Bro. Harrell's home was damaged.

From what I am hearing it is really, really bad in Bridge City.

Someone said the only place to eat that is open that they found was a Burger King.

So business' as well as homes are in a bad way.

Thank you for the reminder that people are still suffering from the Hurricane.
I am glad you are all pulling together to help one another.

That is exactly what the early Church did.
