This REPUBLICAN would not scream to high heaven over a support McCain day.
Again, it's freedom of expression-- I would have a problem if anyone was FORCED to participate in McCain Mauve or Obama Blue Day.

Re: Obama Blue Day
It's a free country,I respect their right to show their support for Mr.Obama, and long as they aren't forcing their views on others.

Of course, there must be professional boundaries.
Simply expressing yourself is NOT telling a person what to express, nor is it a violation of one's professionalism.
By your example, you can influence others to express themselves-- leaving it up to them to agree or disagree with you.
It's ok to have an opinion. It's ok to express it. It's not ok to force it.

I agree the key is being forced into something, that I would protest.

Re: Obama Blue Day
I think most local and state governments and board of education offices have policies prohibiting their employees against this type of thing. I would not endorse wearing red in support of McCain.

A public school is a place for neutrality in politics.

Re: Obama Blue Day
It should be done separate from school. I agree with everyone who says school zones should be politcally nuetral.

Re: Obama Blue Day
It's not like the kids can vote anyway.
This historic election, or any election, can be used as an object lesson for students to learn how to engage in public discourse on the issues of life.
Should the Rep or Dem party have active recruiting drives in these public HS's MS's or ES's? No way!
Simply expressing your views does not come any where near that kind of lunacy. It's a God-given, U.S. Constitution assured right-- whether you're a teacher, preacher or beach bum.
So I guess you guys didn't have a Christian Club in your High Schools?
How about the "Young Republicans" club or "FBLA"?
