If I can't sleep I just drink a glass of cold water. It works for me.

Yes, I do know what you mean. But after waking up and having champagne or wine for breakfast....well...I think water would be a better deal for me. I haven't touched liquor in 23 years.

I agree ...
The Republican Kingdom of God ... or Democrat Kingdom of God... as some now have seem to espouse has replaced THE KINGDOM of GOD.
When gov't becomes the answer to the church's agenda we are in trouble.
Some will say that Republicans want less gov't ...less intrusion ...
Yet as evident by this bailout ... and those that want gov't to change the hearts of men about our "conservative" ideals ... there seems to be an inconsistency.
When men of God renig on contracts they've made to get tax-exempt status ... (let your yea, be yea) and choose to use their pulpit to endorse a candidate who they see as the godly choice ... when a week later that candidate could be exposed for sleeping w/ little boys ....
We have a deadly mix.
Jesus is the answer ... as the old Andre Crouch song says ... not gov't.

Re: Have you fallen victim to a political spirit?
We are citizens of a city whose builder and maker is God ....
We see things a-shakin' around us to remind us of WHAT CANNOT BE SHAKEN ...
Hebrews 12
22But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
What cannot be shaken is OUR KING, HIS WORD AND HIS CHURCH ... the UNSHAKEABLE KINGDOM OF GOD.
kingdoms rise and fall ... and maybe even this country's ... but His Kingdom is everlasting.
The spiritualizing of politics that I hear here and among many of our cohorts is disturbing ....

Good grief. No one is "spiritualizing" politics! It's a campaign year and we are interested in the issues. If we are instructed to "pray" for our leaders, we sure do need to be voting as well. It's ridiculous to vote if you haven't studied the issues or the men/women behind the issues.
At the end of the day every Christian stands on this principle:
Psalm 20:7 "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."
Are we way more enthralled with "NEWSFLASHES" and "Standards" issues? I'm sure not!!

Nope, not me. I made my decision and I am ready to vote in November.

Am I concerned? Of course, I am! I will do what I can about both issues. I will vote the way I think best and I will do my best to manage my finances well. Other than that, I will trust in the God who supplies all my need according His riches in glory!

These words are almost verbatim the words of my pastor a couple of weeks ago. It is said that great minds think alike. *smiles*

What kind of wine did you prefer for breakfast? I'm thinking a smooth Pinot Griggio.
