Re: Hike away from Ike?

We finally made it home. Oh what a MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge limbs down everywhere. The entire backyard is covered.

Part of the fence is down.

Part of the siding is blown off.

The well shed was blown apart and tore off a tube to get water. Hubby has left to go to store to see if he can get what he needs to fix that and then it will take nearly 40 gals of water to prime it.

One of my small storage building covering and roof is damaged.

The road to get to our house looks like a war zone. Trees down everywhere and power lines.

We had to drive in very carefully.

When I get a chance I will try and send you some pics. However, we forgot my computer which doesn't really matter since my cable is out.

I can pretend to be Sis A roughing it for awhile. No air, no electricity, and right now no water.

This computer remote card is sooooooooo slow that I will not be on much, plus I have a ton of stuff to clean up.,

Oh my Esther -- so glad things aren't any worse, but it sounds like it's not going to be very easy.

I am very thankful the house didn't sustain any more damage than it did.

It will take some doing to get the yards clean of all this debris.

I wish I was 30 years younger to do all I need to do.

I had to go to the spa to get water from the "well" Did you know water is rather heavy?:

I am thankful for all the prayers, Thanks a million!

I'm glad your house didn't sustain any more damage either, Esther!! Glad you are safe!!!

If that storm had stayed on the course it was in our direction, I have to seriously doubt we would have a house left.

I'm so glad you're home, and that things aren't any worse than they are.

I do hope they have the power on sooner than 4 weeks! That's a long, long time.

Re: Hike away from Ike?

Great Lord God,

Thank You for watching over Your people. Thank You that Sis. Esther's home
wasn't any worse than it was! Lord God, we know there are many that are
without power and perhaps water, but would You help these utilites to be
restored more quickly for Your wonderful people and the others too!! You are
SO great and greatly to be praised. I just happen to believe YOU are Greater
than we can even imagine and the YOU can cause these restorations to be
done much more quickly than man can say. We just praise Your Great Name
and thank You from Whom ALL Blessings flow, in JESUS Name!! Thank YOU
for what You will cause to be done on behalf of Your children and our dear
friends, in Jesus Name!!

We were without electricity for three days during just a CAT 1. It was miserable! We finally located a Generator on the evening of the third day. Two hours later the electricity came on! lol

I can't imagine being without for 4 weeks!!!! Goodness!

My husband was telling me today, as I was wrong earlier, our house would withstand a large hurricane. It's been through a CAT 5. He said the house is built for it. The sub-floor is laid at a diagonal and then oak flooring on that. I can't remember how he said the walls were built. When he gets into the particulars about lumber I stop listening. lol

He did say we could lose our roof, but the house would stand. That is good to know. He said regardless, anything over a CAT 1, we are out of here. lol

Did you see on Channel 26 in Houston they have a link on their website to post your storm pictures? Thought you might want to send some to them.

Hope you get settled soon! Sorry for the horrible set back!
