Re: Hike away from Ike?

We have plenty of room for you, your hubby and the dog ...
Just Danah, Aaron and me ... here.

Y'all can stay in the master bedroom ... 2 other unused bedrooms also.

Mom is in Florida ...

We're inland enough to be safe and you can get back quickly once it subsides.

Thanks Daniel. We will go to my FIL's in Austin if we need to get out. We have a back road that takes us right to him. It's not going to be that big of a deal for us. If we were in Galveston - yes - but we are not in Galveston nor to the east of Houston. We will be fine.

I'm not scared to stay. I'm not any more worried about it than he is. Really. It's not like we are on Galveston Island or anything.

I'll post all my private info on another thread. J/K! We live west of Houston. We are not on the right side of this storm.

Of course everyone is going to be alarmed at the eye hitting Galveston. That's the true danger and east of that.

On a side note. One time we took the boat all the way down the Guadalupe until it emptied into the Gulf of Mexico. That was the most awesome experience. I felt like an explorer. lol

yea, sorry about that.

even on the west side of the storm you could get a 10 foot storm surge. would that put the surge in your house?

if not, then I think i would ride it out too. the surge is going to be the big deal.

I'm thinking it probably wouldn't. We have good flood insurance.
