And if we're not going to "oppose such a large group of people and their lifestyles:, why is gay rights one of the major things we hear people talk about during the election cycle?

I've gotta run though...
I've been slowly making my way to the door also. Let me think about this and I'll post something later.

As much as we cannot "clean up" a sinner that walks through our doors, the Government cannot and should not be allowed to form everyone into their view and box.

The church is becoming a greater force in this world than what we are giving it credit for, remembering, II Timothy 1:12 "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."
I appreciate your words.

On the Chris Matthews open forum he flip-flopped........On the Stephonopolos interview he eluded to homosexuality not being a sin......and on Degeneres he basically approved gay rights.

You can call it first ammendmant but isn't the Bible pretty clear on homosexuality?

Re: McCain's Speech Tonight!

The early numbers are in...

McCain TV Ratings Beat Obama in Preliminary Numbers

Presidential candidate John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party's event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. These ratings are preliminary, however, and are subject to change.

I don't really think the speeches mean a whole lot but IMO Obama did better. And I thought Mrs. Mcain did horrible.

I didn't see him on the Matthews show or talking to Stephanopoulos. I figured he was pretty well being straight forward with a gay host - Ellen D. So, on the others, I didn't hear it.

What I'm trying to say is that the church is not the Government and the Government is not the church.

We would have major legal issues turning down a citizen because of his lifestyle, BUT we can do that at church.

That is why the church is a relevant and viable force we need to have in this country - freedom of religion.

The 1st Amendment covers every citizen of America. Thank God it also covers the church. Hopefully it will remain that way.

So, I guess what I am trying to say is that from a legal stance - I see McCain's point of view. He must uphold whatever laws are on the books. He thinks it's a state's right issue as it should be, so he's following the law on what he is supposed to agree with on a legal stance. No discrimination laws.

He can have his personal views, which he can't bring to the table in this instance. He did tell Ellen G that they differed on what defines marriage as he thinks it's the union between one man and one woman.

We are a secular society and we have to govern that by what laws are on the books.

Now, we as Christians, know that our responsibility is to win the lost. That can only make for a Christian Government, which we don't have, for the most part, and I turn and look at the church and say, "What are we not doing or what can we do better?"

Just how I view it.

Since no one's voting for Mrs McCain, that probably doesnt matter too much.

She is extraordinarily good at working with people and that is what her job will entail. I know she will do a great job.

I guess its the "Christian responsibility" thing I'm struggling with. How can I cast a vote for someone who voted for marriage as is but them seems to cop out on the civil union part?
