I watched the clip and I like Newt Gingrich, especially his stuff on the civil war, but his point is absurd. Once again John McCain's experience far outweighs Obama's. This WAS McCain's best weapon.

However, Sara Palin, is not anywhere near as qualified as a man who has set on the foregin relations committee and debated and dealt with the intricate issues of things like Iraq, Afghanistan, and all the other important foregin issues. Like I pointed out, she admitted in March of 2007 that she wasn't focused on any of the Iraq issues.

The Pubs are arguing from a silly stance by pointing to her "experience". They can point to charisma and reform and a few other things but highliting her experience is a losing battle for them, IMO.

Consider what Thomas Sowell has to say about this. The link will cover Biden's experience also.

Quote:
Before getting into that, however, a plain fact should be noted: No governor ever had foreign policy experience before becoming president-- not Ronald Reagan, not Franklin D. Roosevelt, nor any other governor.

It is hard to know how many people could possibly have had foreign policy experience before reaching the White House.

Thomas Jefferson had been Secretary of State, but that was a while ago, and there has not been any other Secretary of State to become President of the United States.

That, of course, could go to Obama also, but it means that she would also be just as qualified as Obama.

And as I asked Stew yesterday and I ask myself and I ask you - "Could you, right now, handle the duties of Governor for the state of Alaska?"

It is a worthy question. I think we will see tonight how we feel about Sarah, her gumption, drive and intelligence. We will know if we feel good about the pick.

I also find it interesting that the polling shows more men than women being satisfied with this VP pick.
