Think about it this way, in my experience, every single pastor believes his church is the best church in the city, the one that can minister to folks and prepare them, if not outright believe he/pastor can get them to heaven*. Why would another pastor believe that the church across town is better than his own and that the pastor has a more powerful ministry than his own? No way.

This concept is bred throughout congregations, knowingly or unknowingly because not only will pastors preach against, talk against and rail against not only mainstream churches, but the dead, dry, boring Apostolic churches* across the city.

Therefore, because saints have been conditioned to believe their own church is the best church in the city, all other folks who do not attend that church are either compromisers, or of a lesser apostolic breed.

*This is an exact quote made regularly in church.

Re: Arrogance

That is one thing I will not be guilty of in Judgment. I have never told our people we have greater light or that they can only be saved at our church. I think that is cult mentality and men or women who do this suffer from some type complex...
There are other Jesus name churches in Brazil that will be in heaven...some may not think I will be there for being a woman in ministry but I will surprize them!

Re: Arrogance

It is no secret on here that I don't attend an Apostolic church anymore. But I did for many, many years.

Last Sunday a friend and I went to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. When we got to the door, the pastor of the large UPC church here in our area was just walking in with a friend. Their wives were already seated. It looked like the two of them might have come separately and met their wives there? I don't know. Anyhow, this is a man who knows who I am. By name! He held the door for my friend and I. But when I said, "Thank you, Bro _____", he didn't even acknowledge that I had spoken. He just gave me this disgusted look and walked around us to get to his table.

I couldn't believe the arrogant attitude that I was seeing. But then again, maybe I could..................

Sister Alvear, if only people could have the same spirit you have, then maybe, just maybe, we'd see revival! That's why our pastor and our church sponsors your ministry! We are not ashamed to say we sponsor the Alvear's! Bless you Sister Alvear, you do inspire me!

Verry true. Sis A, you're one in a million!

It's been a few years but I've had the Apostolic snub before. What can I say, royalty should not be expected to associate with peasants.

Re: Arrogance

Oh, I have been snubbed, but it doesn't bother me anymore.

I had a dear friend of 12 years drop me because I did not attend her church, one of the "snubbing churches".

One time that still troubles me, is when my little cousin, (very sick little girl about 22 years old) had dropped down to 50 pounds, (yes, she weighed 50 pounds) was put in the hospital to die, yet God brought her through.
She lost most of her hair, they removed her gall bladder, she lost some hearing,
and she was told her liver was like jelly....anyway, she was at the local Wal-Mart and the "snubbing" group saw her, a few of them walked by her several times, and gave her the "once" over judging look, and had the nerve to say something to her about cutting her hair.
Cutting her hair...(?) never happened, she was blessed to be alive.
She had not ate a bite in a month or so, (I have forgotten the exact time frame), she was a walking dead person, until God brought her through.

Oh God help me not to judge, not to assume, not to have a bad spirit, even when others do the same to me.
I want to make it to the Kingdom, I want to be a light to my children, so they will grow up showing love and kindness.

It should not be this way AT ALL!

Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

I would hate to discourage anyone from following their convictions, but when they some how create hatred or judgmentalism in our hearts toward each other-something is wrong!

Here this poor girl needed some encouragement and love..Lord have mercy on us all.
