Rehearsing A Bit Of Family History

Actually I was reflecting on some of our family's past history. Some may
not have been on this forum back when I first posted it in 2007. Hopefully
this will be an encouragment to someone today.

Bro. Berk,

I can't imagine NOT living in TEXAS!!!

Yes, I was born and bred here! In May I will have graduated 50 yrs,

ago in Texas!! Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the church

(vineyard) my dad and mom planted for their FATHER! I was 18 yrs old

at the time, married the next yr. It will also mark 50 yrs. that I have been

church secretary of this vineyard of the Lord. My youngest sibling, sister,

was born earlier that year Feb.1958) and the church began in Nov 1958.

She will be 50 next Feb. In the Bible the number 50, I believe, meant the

year of Jubilee! I am believing great things are going to happen the next

two or three years. Also 2009, we will be married 50 yrs. To Him be the

glory, for without Him we can do nothing!!!

As I mentioned 50 yrs. ago this May, I graduated from high school in the

same Texas town we still live. The class had thirty something graduates

and to date, they are all alive...50 yrs. later. The eleven children Dad and

Mom raised in this Texas town, are still alive. We eleven all graduated here

and although, somewhat scattered, all still live in TEXAS. Good rich soil!!

Yes, God planted us in TEXAS and our TEXAS ROOTS are really deep by

now!! Daddy said he knew if his family was ever going to have any roots,

natural and spiritual, he was going to have to stay put and this is where

God planted him. We were not popular when we arrived in Sept. of 1950.

Some called us "new lights", and fasted and prayed that we would leave.

Jesus said in Matt. 15, that "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath

not planted, shall be rooted up". Just like a tree planted by the waters!!!

Yes, I have no doubt that we were planted here by our heavenly Father,

and this TEXAS town (growing fast now) is where I will one day be buried,

at least this "outer" man/woman. But for now this TEXAS lady will just be

patient and wait for further instructions from my Father (Spirit) in heaven.

Blessings,

Why are there smaller families than there used to be. Could it be

no one wants the responsibility! Churches are made up of families!

Smaller families, smaller churches. Just some thoughts!

Dad and Mom didn't plan on a family of eleven children. but God

gave them that many. They took care of what God gave them. Dad

worked full-time and supported their family. As we children grew up

we worked and helped with the family and also paid our tithes and

offerings and help support the church. In turn as we raised our children

we also helped with the church which included my younger brothers

and sisters. Our children are very close to my family as they were so

intertwined through the years. From that union in 1937 Dad & Mom, there

are almost 100 direct descentants, the latest born last night. This does

not include those who married into the family. Dad and Mom, their eleven

children, their children and their children's children's and now Dad and Mom

(both gone on around the bend, out of sight) they have great-great- grand-

children. This all began with God healing my grandmother (paternal) in the

1928 of typhoid fever and the bringing of the message of salvation to their

small town a few years later.

Blessings,

What a glorious heritage. Texas is a great place to plant.

Re: Rehearsing A Bit Of Family History

Yes, my sweet wife is my YELLOW ROSE of TEXAS for sure, and when I say she is happy to be back in her home state I mean that with every word she loves Texas and loves Mineola.
God has been good to us to allow us to come to such a wonderful place and be a part of such wonderful people, to share His wonderful message of salvation.

That you CNEASTTX for your kind words, It is our desire to be a blessing to all God allows us to meet and be a part of.
