I see no problem with "shoot". It has no connection to anything holy or unholy that I know of and isn't a euphemism with connection with God.

When preachers from the South have come up here to our area to preach and use the "My Lord" ... "Good God" expressions like an oath, many people were very shocked. Our preachers just didn't do that.

My Mother is a big fan of "Gosh" and "Heck" and will actually say things like "Gosh only knows", to which I tend to respond "Who's Gosh and why would he know??"

Well one day I saw a bumper sticker that made me think of her (and also made me laugh so hard I thought I was going to pass out!), it said "Heck is where people go who don't believe in Gosh"

I have a friend that says "Good gravy in heaven" or "My stars". She's a Nazarene though.........
