Re: *~*Holiness Fiasco*~*

Kutless, I probably do not know you but I have learned over the years the ones I thought to put out of the kingdom were the ones that came running to help me in my times of spiritual need...so we must not judge after the flesh...
Yes, I do have certain standards but I must not let them cause me to have a wrong spirit toward those that feel different.
I have found out over the years we must be careful what spirit we manifest whether we call ourselves liberal or ultra con...whatever we are or claim to be...above all...guard the heart...

PP has been rubbing off on you! (that's a good thing!)

Re: *~*Holiness Fiasco*~*

A few months ago, my wife and I travelled into Tennessee to visit an Amish settlement. I had been there before, but, this was all new to Lola. When she asked why they didn't have electricity or cars, I explainedthat it was there religion. She asked, "What does religion have to do with modern conveniences?" After I explained it to her, she said, "Well, you've got to respect people for living what they believe." She then made it very clear that she had no desire to be Amish.

We visited one farm and, while talking to the farmer, I told him that this was my wifes first vist, and, more than likely, her last. He wanted to meet her. So he came up to the car and leaned in to say hello and he began to encourage her in the Lord by quoting God Promises to her from the Bible. He than asked if he and his family could pray for her. We said yes and, he yelled something in German and his family of about 18 gathered 'round. And prayed in German for my wife. Such sweet and godly people.

No, I don't agree with the necessity of the Amish way of living. Nor do I agree with some Pentecostal "standards" some feel are necessary. Its the spirit I agree with, if it is a godly and gentle spirit. That spirit is what we should show forth, regardless of our position on "standards".

Amen. That is the key component that is lacking - at times on both sides.

Is the pressure to conform so strong that you can't simply live as you are led of God and fellowship based on what you agree upon? Don't leave, stay and make a difference.
