Re: The Village idioT

Twice I misplaced my "package of valuable documents" overseas. Once, by simply leaving it in a cart at the central train station in Hamburg, Germany. Of course, as the "most responsible adult" I also had some local money, visas to other countries, and my daughter's passport in the package! I could not believe my good fortune, four hrs later, in finding it had all been turned in!

An idioT I am!

Re: The Village idioT

Yesterday morning our ship docked at the Los Angeles World Cruise Port in San Pedro, CA. As we left the building the area out front was much like an airport arrivals area.

Directly in front of the large building was the pick up and drop off lane for individuals. Several hundred feet to the right and over one lane was the "shuttle" pick up area.

Upon leaving the building I noticed the Entperprise Car Rental shuttle we needed to catch off to the left stopped in the area not for shuttles. Before I could get there it was filled up and left. I stopped and pulled out my wallet to get the Enterprise phone number to call for clarificatoin on where to wait for it when it returned.

Conventiently on the curb was a long string of steel / metal poles painted yellow about four feet high. I laid my wallet and paper on one of them while I unlocked my Blackberry to make the call.

We were told to wait in the shuttle area so hauled all of our luggage the two hundred feet or so on down and across one lane. After waiting there about ten minutes I happened to reach back to check on my wallet and it was not in my pocket.

My heart skipped a beat as it had what little cash we had left but most importantly my credit cards I needed for the car rental and my drivers license. I knew it had been in the safe in the ship cabin until that morning when I had put it in my back pocekt. I quickly worked through my movement in my mind and realized I must have left it on top of that yellow pole by the sidewalk several hundred feet away among the milling 1500-2000 people.

I set out at a dead run ( a funny sight I am sure) with my heard in my throat as I could not imagine that it would still be there with as many people around as there was.

However apparently it is true that God looks out for babies and idiots as I got closer and saw it still resting on top of that pole!!!! I consider that pretty much a miracle considering how many cruise customers, porters, etc were milling about.

I died laughing to read this - But only because I relate! In my case the scenerio usually follows a speech I gave my wife about being responsible and "be SURE you have everything - we could easily lose something"!

Glad you got you wallet back.

At any rate - YOU ARE AN idioT!

Re: The Village idioT

I once made chicken pot pie for a crowd of about 15 of us for the holidays. But I forgot to put any chicken in it. Does that count? My niece even wrote a song to commemorate it.
