The Bible says the world will know your disciples because of love. If you have to tell a person you are a chrsitian, than your christianity isn't worth the stuff floating around in septic tank.
Oh I forgot. You can fake christianity by a subjective dress code and a hair bun. Do that and a person doesn't need as much love. (I never do smilies.)
Are you inferring that because I CHOOSE to dress the way I do, that I don't have love. Look at your OWN statement and see who shows more love, you or me?
You sir, have a severely NEGATIVE attitude.
Just because I believe in holiness INSIDE AND OUT does NOT mean that I don't possess love.
I don't FAKE anything concerning my Christianity or my belief. I'm proud of what I believe and how I live. I don't have to answer to you for that and it's a good thing.
I believe that you need to take a trip down to the altar and ask the Lord to give you a different perspective from which you need to view others, Christian or not!

I agree with what you are saying. Standards should never be looked at as a restriction. While not heaven or hell issues, we need to look at the attitude behind the issue. If you are dressing to catch the eye of a man or women (depending on your gender) then you don't need to wear it. I know someone in a church that had plastic surgery and the tops got tighter and the neckline got lower. Who cares about what you had done, we just don't want to see it. Keep it at home. It's all about drawing attention to yourself. I remember Sis. JH telling a group of us girls that she made sure that when she tried on an outfit her and her sister would "shout" and raise their hands to make sure that nothing showed. If you are on a platform, why give way to the temptation of someone staring at you in any way that isn't Godly. You want them to see Jesus and not you the individual. My 2 cents...
First of all, having visited this chuch many times, and knowing the leadership, they would NEVER turn a service into a political rally.
Secondly, if we knew for certain he were using the pulpit as a political too, I would be the first to say that you are just in your view.
However, these are the facts as I know them...MH mentioned to those working on his campaign that he wanted to attend service on Sunday.
Someone from his campaign who lives in this area and has visited the Apostolic Church told MH about it...gave him the info regarding the Website...he checked it out, listening to the choir and Pastor W preach...said that this was where he wanted to go, and he stayed through the entire service.
Thirdly, MH is the one who asked the media to not attend...
Now it just seems to me that if the man had wanted to make it a political scene, he would have been happy to have it televised.
This is just how I see it from my house...
All the negatives posters on this one are just jealous that Huck didnt choose their church.
A lot of sin is swept under the rug because the hair-do is right and the skirts are long enough. Many are led to a unscriptural conclusion that a dress code is what separates the disciples of Christ from the world.
I made a remark that if a christian who has to tell the world he's a christian isn't as big of a christian as he think he is. The church didn't slap the label christian on their backs. They were content to be followers of Christ. The world labeled them as chriistians, and that was more of a slur than a compliment.
The drooling over Huckabee's visit to the church is so insincere, considering some of the posters had a problem with the Clintons visiting the Manguns in Alexandria. Considering some posters had a problem with Obama and Hillary speaking at Rick Warren's church, yet turn around and pat a upc congregation on the back for having a republican is incosistent. btw, I know a few people who would consider it an insult to label the church in Auburn Hills a upci church. They are not affilliated with the upci. Some of the ministerial staff are licensed with upci, but the church isn't.
At least I'm consistent. I don't like political pulpits for anyone. Even if the press wasn't allowed in the service, the photo-ops were plenty.
If anything good came out of the Huckabee visit, it would be the church was mentioned in every media outlet in that area a number of times. One can't buy publicity like that.
As I indicated in another thread, another person has suddenly become mute when I called him out on his off based whacked out opinion. When I presented the facts, the person cowered into the darkness, never to respond.
Your only response to the post of mine you intially had a problem with was a negative response. I considered why the hostile comment. The reasonable conclusion is your definition of christianity and holiness is tied up in external and subjective developments. I have no control over that. That is your weight to bear.
Bottom line, love is the evidence of discipleship. A subejective dress code is nothing more than a masquarade.
You think I have a negative attitude? I feel more peace than Dan A. sitting front and center at the Tulsa Tango.

Almost all the Huckabee droolers gave themselves wedgies when Obama and Hillary visited Rick Warren's church, and the Clinton's visited Alexandria... Why the sudden flip flop? Obama and Hillary were at Saddleback to raise awareness for aids victims in third world countries and you would have thought some people on this forum would have come unglued. All we are asking for is some consistency. Can't seem to get it with dress codes, televisions, or internet. Don't see how we are going to be consistent with our politics as well.

It isn't always the women with the long skirts and the buns who get the passes for bad behavior. If the man is a "good old boy" in some churches he gets the pass, too, Just recently I have learned that sometimes it doesn't matter what type of unethical shenanigans he performs - as long as he's "faithful" to the church. It isn't always a "female" thing. I think God must be sick of this. I know I am....Sis. Coonskinner, I appreciate your dedication to standards. This post is in no way directed to you or any other woman or man who sincerely adhere to standards and live upright dedicated lives.
