Sorry wrong......

They asked, what should we do. Not what must we do to be saved.

There was someone else who asked; Sirs what must I do to be saved.
(Hint Acts Chapter 16)

Sorry can't give you the dollar but good try bro.

In the church world as a whole, "apostolic" has a whole different meaning than it does to OP's. There are a lot of conferences offered for apostolic churches, and it has NOTHING to do with Pentecostalism.
I have to agree with Sherri that the word apostolic means different things to different people and often has nothing to do with Pentecoat or Oneness. Even Catholics consider themselves to be the holy apostolic church. Do a word search on the interenet and you'll come up with all kinds of things. I ordered three books once pertaining to apostolic and if I remember right one was Episcopalian, one was Armenian Orthodox and one sounded UPC. My mother and I have gone round and round about this several times because she believes Apostolic means oneness and nothing else. I've had to tell her that is does, to our why of thinking but other religions claim to be apostolic as well.

In my world...Apostolic is 3 step Oneness but not all the strict rules. There are some things I feel are heaven and hell issues and others that are personal convictions between you and God. My church affiliation is ACN.

This is the inherent problem with such statements when they are used as rhetoric.

Joseph poses, what he supposes, is a rhetorical question then draws a conclusion based on what he supposes the answer will be.

The problem is that the question creates a false dilemma as well as his conclusion.

The issue is not whether I believe in outward holiness, I do (one should wear clothes, for example), but rather what does he mean by outward holiness. Also, what he means by "looking like the world around you" needs clarification.

He should ask the question in the following manner: "Do you think you can reflect Jesus and NOT have outward holiness, as defined by me? If you reflect (look like the world around you, as I define looking like the world around you) then you are not reflecting Jesus."

If Joseph had stated the questions that way then a discussion would follow that would be interesting. But by stating them that way would make he looks judgmental, even though in my experience that is what OP's are being when this discussion comes up.

But since he didn't state it that way....

judging by his picture I would say that he looks like the world around him...by that am I to judge that he is NOT reflecting Jesus??

Excellent points.

We need to define what we are saying....looking like the world means something different to virtually every UPC saint or preacher that I have known!

They all have different opinions/rules/commandments.
