Question for those who play the keyboard while standing up

I'm trying to figure out if my problem is due to the way I'm standing...or if it's just because I have a weak ankle on the left.

If you stand up at the keyboard and play...since you have to use your right foot to go up and down on the pedal...that puts all your weight on your left foot. Is that a problem for anyone? I'm finding that my left foot is starting to hurt when I play for a while.

I try to switch which foot I use to do the pedal...but it's not helping much.
i don't want to sit down and play...I feel like I do better standing.

I'm just curious if this is a problem for anyone ... or maybe it's just me!

What type shoes do you wear? I would think heels would not be good.

I usually slip my shoes off...but I wonder if I need some type of support since especially my left foot is very flat. (I could stand to lose about 40 pounds too...eeeeesh....)

How about a high stool to at least lean back against - might help support so that you aren't putting all your weight on your left foot.

Get a barstool that you can lean back against or "set on" Unless you are the only one on the platform or if you are leading music, no one will even notice.

I feel for you sister.

We do have a stool I could try that ....Thanks Renda! Last night I tried to prop my left knee on a chair...but then I couldn't really use my right foot ...I'll try leaning on a stool...or higher chair...

Yes! This can really hurt! You've gotten some good suggestions already.

Hope it works for you.
