ELDERS are both MALE and FEMALE according to scripture.
1Ti 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
1Ti 5:2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

You can NOT prove that those that "labour in the word and doctrine" were only male.
You can't pick and choose parts of the definition and say "Oh well the women were just "old women" while the men were the ones holding office". You have no scriptural support for your picking and choosing.
Scriptural support - what a novel idea!

This is the same mindset that advocates same sex marriage and homosexuals in clergy, is it not?
It was Adam AND Eve, not Adam OR Eve.

I know alot of people that aren't "comfortable" under the leadership of their male pastor.
In fact, the bible talks about "brutish" pastors that scatter the flock...
So, whats your point?

You seem to make no seperation and seem to have no qualms at having a man over a woman who is over a man.

Go back a few posts. You'll see what I posted about it, including scriptures and definitions. It's quite a long post.
In addition, I made about ten posts in a row answering your posts, but you didn't address but a couple of them. I have to wonder why.

Acts 8 is your whole study? That's it?

LadyRev, please tell me who YOU believe elders are.

The only time in Scripture a woman went to battle it was becuse God could not find a man. Every other time it was a Man in the plan of God to lead Israel.

How about taking ALL of Paul's "divinely inspired" words literally and keep your hands off the women??? The only exception being your OWN WIFE!
1 Corinthians 7:1-9
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Or how about the part where Paul says it would be better for all men to remain as he was...SINGLE! Do you preach this at all? Afterall, ALL of Paul's words are "divinely inspired" and therefore should be preached IN FULL. You shouldn't just preach the "marriage is allowed if you can't contain" part.
6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. 7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
What a joke some of this discussion is...good grief.

LadyRev, you do err so in the scriptures.
Do you really believe Paul’s command not to ‘touch a woman’ (See 1 Corinthians 7:1) is referring to laying hands on a woman in prayer? Jesus touched women. Was He sinning? Unreal.
Here is Thayer’s definition for “touch”:
G680 ἅπτομαι haptomai
1) to fasten one’s self to, adhere to, cling to
1a) to touch
1b) of carnal intercourse with a women or cohabitation
1c) of levitical practice of having no fellowship with heathen practices. Things not to be touched appear to be both women and certain kinds of food, so celibacy and abstinence of certain kinds of food and drink are recommended.
1d) to touch, assail anyone
And as far as Paul's singleness: since Paul said he cast a vote against the Christians (See Acts 26:10), and voting was exclusive privilege of the Sanhedrin, please, explain for all here how Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin while yet being single.
LadyRev, you are not helping your case with posts like this.

God is the authority. NOT the MAN, NOT the WOMAN.
The man or woman in the pulpit is simply a messenger.
When you obey the Word of God that your pastor preaches, are you obeying your pastor or God?

1 Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Eph 5:22-24 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. (23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. (24) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Col 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
1 Pet 3:1-6 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; (2) While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. (3) Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; (4) But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. (5) For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: (6) Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
