Back on point. This thread got jacked by comic books and tanning solutions.....What is interesting is the Elder Bishop of the local assembly frequently visits a church in Denver which is not UPC. I think, not positive of this, he was warned about preaching at that church. It is the Elder Bishops son-in-law's church but isn't the organization bigger than family. Think about this for a moment. Elder Bishop has strong, long standing ties to the UPC yet frequents idependent church against the wishes of the organization. No action is taken against him.

I made this point earlier ... no one regulates the speaking engagements of the big wigs ....

Let me paint a little picture for you. A month before the local assembly was split the current interim pastor was a senior pastor/bishop of a church. He comes down by the request of the sitting pastor at the time. He would later send an email to one of the members basically telling the members that the pastor has to go or all that the MANUAL stands for will be lost. Keep in mind this man is in his late sixties early seventies. He makes a statement during one of the services to this effect "the pages of the AOF may be yellowed from age but they still havent changed over all these years" he would later make the statement the "the AOF can be added to but it can't be taken away from". Think he got that one confused with the Bible. Anyway, the sitting Pastor eventually resigns and 70% of the people leave with him. Fast forward two months and who is the interim pastor, you guessed it the man who wrote the letter claiming the pastor needed to go. Imagine that. He is also the one who had the visiting evengelist canned. Seems to me like the interim pastor is the one with the "in question" status to me.

Peope used to asked if I had an African american parent or hispanic parent or something, now they assume I have at least one non-white parent and are questioning if maybe I don't have any white parents. Its rather funny sometimes. When my Dad introduces me as his sone to some new customers they look at me then they look at him then they look at me some more. I'm 6'1", shaved head, very dark tan and he's 5'8", pretty thick hair 2/3 of the way around his head, and tan but not nearly as dark as me. I get a kick out of it.

When I was a kid my dad was building a house and my mom told some of her coworkers to go on out and take a look at it. "Just introduce yourselves (to my dad). When my mom saw the ladies the next day she asked if they had met my dad. "No, we didn't see him... there was just some Mexican guy working on the house." That "Mexican guy" was my Scot-Irish father.

Just goes to show... and all of that.
