I've only read a few posts in this thread.
I realize that when we see or know of something illegal we have an obligation to report it, but, I would not for fear of retaliation. This would apply to an illegal alien or any other illegal activity or acts committed by or participated in by people.

I'm not saying we need to report every illegal, as this thread suggests. But the fact that they're illegal does give law enforcement another tool to use when they're investigating other crimes.

We don't need to "rat out" every illegal. But our society can pick and choose among them to rid itself of trouble makers. American born trouble makers are trouble enough without having Castro empty his prisons like he did and send criminials to the US to save his govt money.

Mexico follows a similar path. If there wasn't the saftey valve of easy US immigration, the ruling class there would have had to fix their problems long ago or face revolution. Instead, our porous borders have served to perpetuate injustice within Mexico.

The church is not a safe haven for illegal aliens.

If any one wants to live in the USA they need to obey the federal laws.

Illegals are just that: they are illegal. What part of illegal do you not understand.

We need to have military enforced borders and in war time we need to be very aggressive and not allow any across.

The church is under minding the security of the USA if they harbor, aid and abet illegals.

Why not rat out every illegal?

It's not practical. For better or for worse we have to live with the policies of the past. "Ratting out" every illegal and then expecting a response from law enforcement each time would place too great a strain on the system.

It's better to use our freedoms. It was primarily market forces and injustices at home that brought people here. Adapt to those forces and you will then also be pressuring the illegal's govts at home to change.

Put some teeth into existing laws, truly penalize employers who violate the law and secure the border. Mexico and Central America would be better places to live and work if we did that. It's kind of like Americans giving up drugs. If we did that Columbia would be a lot better place to live and work.

The pull and influence of our free markets (and black markets!) are extremely powerful. We need to look at the big picture and make a few tweaks to the status quo. The right tweaks and we won't have to run around hounding 20 or 30 million illegal aliens.

Personally, I don't want to live in a country where there's that kind of a crack down.
