My father went out and got a TV in 1969.
Just before Neal Armstrong landed on the moon.
It was July 20th, 1969 my 5th Birthday.
He told many men in the UPC that he had a TV, that he took his kids bowling.
That he took us to baseball games.
He was bold.
You would be surprised at who also had TV's?
See my Dad traveled 45-50 weeks a year and flew to his revivals in the mid 1960's before fyling was big in the UPC.
He requested the churches he preached at cover the cost.
He was ahead of his time.
You know why Hazelwood would not take his card?
They new the Assembly of God was courting him all the time.
In 1965 he was offered an Assembly of God Congregation of over 1000 members in Pittsburgh, PA.
He gave up big money engagements to come over to the UPC.
His fellowship of the Assembly of God brothers told him he would go hungry.
He was willing to pay any price.
The UPC needed his debating abilities.
He traveled and met every State Superintendant in 1963.
He was what Kenneth Mendenhall, John Cupit, Frank Tamel, Mark Hanby, Tommy Craft, JT Pugh, Marvin Hicks, Nathaniel Urshan, Stanely Chambers and many more called a trophy for the UPC.
I seem to remember in 1962 or 1963 him being featured in an article within a UPC publication.
My only comment he spoke his mind.
Anyone who knew my dad would tell you that for sure....
he was ahead of his time...
