The up-and-coming generation are just products of "the machine"....
certain types of messages and certain types of deliveries are promoted
and as the result, many young preachers just clone what's rewarded....
rewarded how? rewarded by compliments, rewarded by opportunities in
ministry, more preaching engagements, comparisons to other "well-known"
preachers, etc....
The decreasing volume of quality teachers combined with the near
absense of mentoring will always result in shallowness, shallowness of
preaching/teaching and shallowness of passion and ability to reach the lost....
even young preachers that have willingness to improve their ministry
(via prayer, study, etc) to a degree can only reach what their modeled
leadership has attained.... they are usually not prepared or equipped to
claim a greater anointing than their shepherd-leadership....
this one-time "Passing the Mantle" service of the Elders praying over the
young preachers for greaters ministries, anointing, etc can't replace the
absense of prayer/study/committment in the life of the younger minister,
nor replace the absense of mentoring and/or teaching invested in that
person by their leadership.... build on their existing foundation, most certainly....
but not in minutes give what it took years for those Elders to attain....
the "Passing the Mantle" service almost seemed like a one-time buy-out
for all the neglect thats taken place toward it's up-and-coming.... churches
that have ministry-mentoring programs in place (like Alex) are to be
commended as they are following a time-proven Biblical principle of
leadership that God will always honor and bless....
just throwing a dog-bone out there for folks to chew on....
