When it comes to technology, it is better to teach self-control.
TV can be viewed as a negative influence on peoples' lives because of the programs that are aired or it can be a good influence on people's lives depending on the individual knowing how to use self-control and watch programs that are educational or informative.
Internet can be viewed as a negative influence as well. Many married people have abandoned their spouse and children to meet with a stranger they met online. Teenage girls have ran away from home to meet with a stranger (adult men) Easy access to pornography and other perversed material. However, it can be used as a positive influence as well - very informative. Can keep friends and loved ones connected through communication.
Radio, phones, - any thing can be bad or good depending how it is used.
magazines, books - self-control on what you read
According to the Bible, long before there was technology - (TV, internet, radio, phones etc.), there was murder, adultery, idolatry, rape, incest, homosexuality, perversed sexual sins happening in the world - where did the bad influence come from then?

Just my humble opinion - not that it counts.
You are SPOT ON, Sissy!

Sissy, your post just makes too much sense, that doesn't work on this subject. Don't you know that puts too much responsibility on the individual and parents, you would not want to overwhelm folks now would you??
I love your post, know the truth and it will set you free.

By broadcasting services, a church implicitly endorses the medium in general, not just the 3 channels that seldom broadcast things inappropriate but including the 297 channels of societal 'collateral damage.'

Wow, what about the medium of radio, have you looked into the lyrics of the music of this world? Most stations are not playing gospel.
What about your implicit endorsment of the world wide web, with it's thousands of pornographic sites? Seems I've seen statics that show the majority of sites are not Godly to say the least.

I have the complete Mr. Bean DVD set. I stumbled across it for somethng ridiculous like twenty bucks a couple of years ago at Sams Club I think.
I also have his Spy spoof film that was out a couple of years ago. It is not great but it is pretty funny.
He has a new movie in theaters with the Mr. Bean character called something like "Mr. Bean's Vacation" that I am sure I will get the instant it comes out on DVD.

Wow, what about, the eyes are the window of the soul, and visual imagery stimulates the brain immensely more than audial input.
Compare these phrases:
The film contained disturbing images.
The clip contained disturbing sounds.
I'm done.
Aaaaaannnnnd, the world wide web. Push vs. Pull media.
The television station pushes programming and commercials into your TV. You don't get to select the commercials, or stop them. If your child flips the set on at the wrong time, they will be watching whatever raunchy stuff the talk shows are covering etc.

Hmmmm...nobody pushing anything into your computer?
But then again I think that web casting is better than TV any day. You can control everything you web cast and you don't have to try and fit your service into someone else's time frame........
