Rhoni, I'm sorry, but this thread is one of those "last straw" type threads that tells me I would never, could never, set and receive your counsel, or, as a pastor, ever recommend someone to come sit across the desk from you for your counsel.
I'm sure you are a delightful person, and I have enjoyed many of your comments--but you seem to have an agenda that makes my skin crawl.

Brother Brett,
I wonder about that? Really.
I wonder if this is the case or if it is just an abiding pesky satisfaction of stirring the pot for reaction sake alone. I suspect it is more of a case of chain jerking than an honest or sincere conviction of her own.

I suspect it's a good bit of both.
Rhoni, I feel abused - if that makes things any better! LOL!

There might be a measure of satisfaction in knowing that.

Reading this subject matter its clear the main discussion has been circumvented.
There used to be a guy who would come on FCF and GNC as soon as
polygamy was discussed. He and his wife had an ad out for another wife.He actually was serious.Sickly serious.
BTW I wonder how the older woman in Rhoni's original post felt at the
wedding of the second wife. What a sham. They can say it doesn't matter
but we are raised in a culture of one man,one woman.I doubt it does
not hurt this lady.Shame on him. What a lousy example for the children
as well.I doubt I would put up with it.There is reportedly an apostolic
cult in the U.S. that promotes this as well.I forget the name of it.

If it is one that says its ok for the woman to have multiple husbands as well, please don't let Pressing-On know anything about it. Keep it a secret from her. She's already been asking about it.

I understand your sentiment, but my problem is that there seems to be an agenda to stir the pot in this way. It seems as if it stems from a source.

I was stirring the pot and you bit...I can't believe this stupid thread has so many takers! LOL! Many of you men seem to think I like to tear you down and many of you like to make very judgemental statements like this one:

The truth is...I don't want o counsel in many of your churches...I'd have to tell the good but abused saints to got to another assembly and find some healing...not all Apostolics are as judgmental, controlling, and manipulative as this one.
Besides, I've taken a very safe job working for an insurance company and make twice the money...you continue your counseling and turning out carbon copies of yourself..the church will be a most happy place.

Polygamy is just a part of the human condition. It existed once and was prevalent- probably out of a survival need in distant antiquity.
You will find a hankering for it in every group of humans. And because the "need" for it (whatever that need may have truly been) has long since been satisfied, most people are appalled by the practice in modern times; especially when you see how abusive its implementation ends up being. Just read some of the Mormon accounts and you see that it’s detrimental to society.
As far as "Apostolics" practicing polygamy, I think what isolated cases you might find are of individuals who are behaving in other sociopathic ways - isolation from church and community, disregard for other civil laws and stretching the Scriptures to justify about any other lust and whimsy.
Could be that the "angenda" you fear in this thread (if there is one) was instigated by some other authoritarian abuse. The scars of that abuse could now be generalizing other sins and lumping everything together that is "bad" or that triggers memories of a bad experience. I dunno, just thinking about what triggers me sometimes, maybe.

Bro. You have no idea...it took me 7 years of counseling just to say how angry I really was and another 7 years to get it out of my system and even tolerate men again. I don't think all men are jerks...but the Apostolic churches I'm familiar with have their fair share
