CC1 it is part of my core beliefs I make no apology for it and yes I was offended when some of our own attack what we teach. But honestly most folks in Pentecost have NEVER heard of DW-Pope-Woodruff it was like shooting a water pistol at the Sun it excited them and was interesting but the church goes on and the detractors had their 15 seconds but the church survived it.
Again I used their books to teach against their arguments and would have gladly had a public discussion with Pope a pastor offered his building but he never replied. But I was told he regretted he had written it not that he changed his mind but he felt it affected him adversely.
Just so you know...over 25,000 of the books have been sold.....
It was written in 1994 and is in its fourth printing.
AND you are SO wrong about the name WASMUNDT, not being known in Penetecost.
NLYP, I could be completely off base, but I remember when you became a new member here, and you mentioned that this Bro W was your uncle. At the time, I was under the impression that you were VERY upset at him for writing the book. Am I right? If not, I apologize for thinking such a thing.
I really don't think I'm wrong........lol
I was, in fact very upset about the division that it caused without understanding.
BUT, because I know the heart and spirit of the man behind the pen, THAT makes a difference.
He lived here for a few months, but had to move back to Atlanta because of illness. When he was here, he came once to visit the upc church with my family.
I believe his daughter goes to a UPC church. Is that right, NYLP?
Have your feelings about your uncle's books and subsequent actions changed recently?
I thought I recalled you posting some very strong disapproval once upon a time.
Is my memory failing me?
Your tone regarding this subject seems to have dramatically altered.
It would take a long time to articulate how I feel.
I love him.
I dont agree with him on all points....BUT
He is family and Im not going to just sit while I feel he is under attack.
I dissaprove of the division the book caused.
BUT...It did challenge a bunch of traditions that needed to be reevaulated.
Will I always hate the book? YES....because, while some of it was necessary, the division between churches, saints and families it caused was bery difficult to handle.
THAT was never his intention...but that did happen none the less.

Yes, Michelle and Ed go to Bro Scotts in Atlanta....

Well, I just wanted to clarify this. I was pretty sure that was the case, but you would never know that the way you were 'talking' to Bro Epley.
Now, if anyone was attacked, it would poor Bro E, not your uncle!

I have NEVER personally attacked your uncle. And I did NOT bring up the distress you posted about HIM and his book and what it had caused. I clearly remembered them but since he was reading I chose NOT to post it for the fear it would offend him toward you. I am NOT guilty. I did attack the book since Sandra posted about it. He and his book are not one and the same. I would be interested in knowing where he goes to church if you would pm me that since I am well ac quainted with Atlanta. I know an assembly that I have friends in it that took the same stand on those issues in South Atlanta.
I refuted it because it was and is error. I refuted Woodrow's book and I do not know him and refuted Pope's book also. I am NOT personally acquainted with any of these men though I have several connections to Pope. So to make this personal is NOT fair no more than it is to confuse RR and her writings.

It would be interesting to know how many on this forum new about DW before they came to forums?
Just like folks quote Tom Fudge and only a small handfull of Canadians new him or of him before his book.
