I am bothered by the exodus of some of the ultra con brethern and the lack of active participation by many more.

I have thought about this for some time trying to figure out why and here are some of my theories / thoughts;

1. Ultra cons are not used to their positions being questioned or contended with as their paradigm does not allow for that kind of scrunity / contention. AFF and the like takes them out of their comfort zone.

2. Because by the very nature of their ultra conservative positions it is hard for ultra cons to contend for their positions without violating the spirit and or rules of the forum since they really do believe almost everybody else is going to hell for any myriad of "sins" from short sleeved shirts to playing golf depending on just how ultra the con is.

3. They get sick and tired of having positions, applications of scripture, etc that they hold dear and sacred being dismissed as wrong by mods and libs.

4. The occasional run of wacko ultra libs is just "one toke over the line" of their willingness to interact with the other spectrums of Oneness Pentecost.

I know how you feel. We're stuck in the middle. Sometimes I agree with the Cons and other times I'm with the libs and some times I disagree with both of them.

This is too funny, Rico.......I was at an ultracon church not long ago and it was mentioned how members didn't have the internet, etc....and I know personally several in the church who do...Of course, they also have "monitors" not TVs, too. It's just different strokes for different folks.

It's not double standard....It's a form of "doublespeak." ...Don't get me wrong....I love these folks, but doublespeak is doublespeak - no matter who's speaking it!

I agree....Also, I would add:

5. They feel they are wasting their time and they think they cannot help anyone. (No one will change and they are probably right)

#5 applies to libs, too.......when they leave (or stay).

I feel that way, too (#5) and I am not sure somedays if I am a lib, mod, or, con...LOL

Oh, I'd have plenty to say, I just wouldn't be able to argue about it. What fun would that be??

You are mod to con that so desperately is fighting your lib tendencies...you've got this lib voice in your head that wants to set you free, but you keep fighting it....just my take...no offense intended. oloroid
