17 Kids? Woa Nelly! I Have To Admire Them!

There is a couple in Arkansas no less who just welcomed thier 17TH child!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/perso....ap/index.html

I have my hands full with three!

Kudos on them for thier obvious love of kids and being able to make a go of it.

Large families are not popular anymore for many reasons.

My grandma on my Dad's side was one of 16 back in Norway in the 1800's.

Only half of those 16 made it to adulthood.

My dad was one of 12! I was the last Grandchild #56!

Imagine those 17 in a few years should the Lord tarry, what the Family

reunions will be like!

God Bless!

Ron

It is pretty amazing. I admire them too. An article said that they are all taught at home too!! Amazing! They have a 7000 square foot house so they must be able to support them all. That would make it easier if money was available to help raise them!

My Mom is one of 14. It is very neat.

My mother-in-law (who died about 13 years ago) came from a family of 11. My father-in-law was an only child. Together they decided on two.... then 8 years later an "oops" happened and my wife was born, so they had a grand total of three.

There are several BIG families around here (and can't count the times the churches are having BIG fund raisers to help with all the special "needs" that constantly come up). It sounds like THIS family of 17 can actually afford them. None of the ones around here can.....
The other thing that MOST do is the "every kids name starts with the same letter thing". Drives me nuts!

I was raised in a family of eleven siblings, all have lived to adulthood, the youngest is now fifty. There are now forty-something grand and greats, and the family reunions total 100 to 135 in attendance. We have a great time.

NO KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

This part of the article is what really stood out to me:

Among the "fun facts" listed on Discovery Health's Web page devoted to the Duggars: A baby has been born in every month except June; the family has gone through about 90,000 diapers, and Michelle Duggar has been pregnant for 126 months -- or 10.5 years-- of her life.

As long as it doesn't hurt her health and they can afford it (so I don't have to pay for them) and they are well taken care of they can have as many as they want. JMO

Why not? If they can afford it, let them make as many as they want. Why do you see it as dumb?
