I totally agree with this and I know that oftentimes evangelists and missionaries are not taken care of in a proper manner.

I just wonder sometimes if the whole aspect of sacrifice and servanthood hasn't disappeared from the apostolic mindset.

Certainly, I would have little respect of any preacher that would demand anything...anything at all.

This is a far cry from the standard Jesus set when He sent out the seventy-two in Luke 10:1-9.

"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

"When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

"When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.'"

Felicty,

I think we are really on the same page here. You were just looking at it from the perspective of a preacher expecting a certain amount to preach, and I was looking at it from the perspective of the fact that we should bless the ministry that gives us the word abundantly, and not just give them a "salary" offering.

And you are right, along with these posters here that stated they would go if it was just for bread and water. The Spirit of sacrifice and servanthood is diminishing among Apostolics. But I am glad there are still some out there like Bro Amos that are faithful.

We are definitely on the same page. No doubt.

I'll see your "no Purse" and raise you a "take purse".

Luk 22:35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
Luk 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Luk 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

Hey Doc, when he gets through call me.

Some of you have been hanging around the charismatics too much if you are running into that attitude and spirit.

We have our problems in the Apostolic movement, but by and large, this isn't one of them.

I have been put up in fine hotels some places I have preached.

I have stayed in oastor's homes and humble evangelist's quarters in some places.

I have been taken to fine restaurants in some places, and have eaten everything from cabbage soup to baloney sandwiches in others.

I have been paid very well in some places, and have preached for free in others.

And I really don't know that any of it made any difference to me. I was happy to try and be a blessing.

I am neither ashamed of being blessed, nor too high and mighty to preach in storefronts.

And I think I am just like most of my brethren.

Very Good.

My feelings also.

"Been there done that!"

And would GLADLY do it again.
