I think we need to think before speaking out and calling things dumb and stupid. I will agree that we cannot be carried away with things like this, but it's things like this, and people talking about it in this way, that allows satan to get a foothold in our lives and rob us of truths written in the Word of God.
I still believe that a woman's hair is her covering, and it is a shame to cut it. I still believe the Bible teaches that if a man has long hair it is a shame.
I think the story of Mary using her long hair to dry Jesus' feet is a beautiful story. I'm sure some of those posting on this forum would have called her stupid and dumb for doing such a ridiculous thing. But sometimes we get like Paul - 'beside ourselves' - and react to the presence of God in a way that is not 'politically correct'. No, I don't think the ladies that have let down their hair are in idolatry or witchcraft, and I think we need to be careful of judging them so, lest satan take advantage of us, and rob us of the promises God has given us for our obedience to His Word.

You have missed a lot of the discussions on this topic, perhaps ...
including the work of R. Reider and her linking power of hair to the occult ...
I also submit that there is a definite pattern of behavior that is making this troublesome and a doctrinal issue.

That Paul teaches a woman should have long hair and a man short is unquestionable. That does not mean, it is ok for our leadership to give the nod of approval to false doctrine! This summoning angels by letting your hair down is false doctrine and will lead people away from the important truths of scripture.

Amen!

Would it of been easier to just place the basket on her head? I mean if a Sister can summon angelic beings because of her hair then all she needs to do is make a point of contact. What scripture are these Sisters using to advocate the use of hair in prayer? I do believe that a woman should allow her hair to grow free from cutting it, but I in no way think it can evoke angels.

If she placed the basket over her head at least this would explain her stupidity!

If you are talking about the Sister in the picture, I must ask that you not call her stupid. Her and her husband have done a great work with children in this state over several decades. I agree this new fad about healing hair or magic hair or what ever it is called, is ridiculous. But this lady and her husband are responsible for many being in the church today.

If what you say is true then that in itself is telling. People who are look up to have even more reason to make sure they don't go outside the word of God and add or instruct such false teachings as this! So for this reason alone I think it was a stupid mistake~

What an absolutely stupid comment! And what an insult to the Saviour who led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men, those gifts being apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor and teachers.

Sister Murphy, do you believe all this power in the hair nonsense? I really can't remember what you've said on the subject. Please tell me you don't believe this garbage.

Brother, I do not believe in any of this stuff about a woman laying her hair on somebody or something to release angelic power. I fear it has the same connotation as an occult practice, that of using a talisman or a charm to get spirits to do one's bidding/request. As for what I've said on the subject, about three years ago, I did a chapter by chapter review with one book containing this teaching about "guardians of the glory". I find no scriptural basis for such a teaching.
I just take issue with somebody taking a broad slap at the many faithful, humble, loving, compassionate servants of God who are pastors and leaders, and who feed the flock of God with an understanding of their accountability to the Chief Shepherd. It irritates me, so I highlighted it and commented.
And now, back to the discussion at hand!
