If so, what is your reasoning? If not, then something is really wrong with church governance as we see it today.

I guess that was fine, huh, Ferd.... I should have came running in total appreciation after his damnation....
I think it would be up to Daddy Warbucks what he wants to do with his money and his tithe. In the hypothetical case you mention if he does what is normally done by most of the evangelical christian world, he would pay 10% and the church and the pastor would be the lucky participant as long as Daddy stayed there.
Really .... what and who determines who is or isn't worth whatever amount of $$$. It's not whether the pastor is worth it or worthy of it. It boils down to the fact that Daddy W needs to tithe. Someone(s) will be the fortunate recipient of that.
And again .... who REALLY is 'worth' or worthy of that amount of money? If I was the pastor I'd feel unworthy but very very blessed!

OK, here is MY summary of what I believe is biblical and morally honorable:
The tithes were/are to support the ministry as a whole and not just the Sr. Pastor. However, I do not find "opulent" lifestyles that are promoted by some. What I mean morally honorable is that the "High Priest" (Sr. Pastor) indeed should be fairly compensated as a professional who is on call 24/7.
There are few pastor indeed, who have the 8 yrs of training a Dr. or Attorney has. Some are advocating that they should be compensated like them. I believe that a leader should be compensated for his responsibilities. The larger the church, the greater the responsibility and the greater the compensation should be. But pastors of small churches shouldn't feel that they should be compensated like pastors of larger churches unless their budgets allow for it and their people decide to do it.
If many Sr. pastors in the Apostolic movement would simply become the servants the Lord wants them to be (there are many who are) they would give a FULL honest disclosure of ALL the church's finances including their income, which should be reasonable, I believe that they would find a group of people who rally behind them, bless them and see that their families are well taken care of.
I will say this until I run out of breathe: "Pastors who are better with their sword than they are with their towel, always have something to hide and control. They are always the ones who are trying to control their people, and who bellyache that their people won't bless them. Like people, like priest."
Why has no one addressed the IRS issue that I continually bring up regarding control of the church's finances and the pastor being liable for taxes for the entire amount?
