I asked this because I was on another forum discussing the long hair issue and made the statement that black churches don't preach long hair on their women and I got jumped on for it and assumptions are made about my intentions in regard to speaking about black people. The conversation just has me completely puzzled.

That's not what I write, that's the option I have to choose from because it's the only one that applies. LOL!
At the DPS in Texas "American" was not an option. They had the typical options. I checked "other" and wrote in "American".
I'm an American before I am hispanic. I am hispanic before I am messican.:sshhh
Exactly! I don't think mentioning a difference is derogatory in any way when the purpose is to point them out for an innocent reason. It's not different than speaking about the man with red hair, the woman with the gold front teeth, or the child in a wheelchair.
I'm not offended at someone pointing out that I'm white. My black friends refer to me as 'this white friend of mine' to their other black friends. Doesn't bother me in the least. I just don't get why some black people are offended at being pointed out, but I'll continue reading. I think only white people and Berk have responded so far......LOL!
I am Swiss-American - OK so it's been 300 years...

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
I remember a few years ago when everybody was still trying to sort out political correctness that when a crime occurred and they released descritpions of the suspect to the public they would not say whether the person was black, white, or hispanic. I thought that was hilarious except it was just too sad and stuipd. I noticed they stopped that thank heavens and now give as full a description as possible.
This is off topic but what I find hilarious is when the news announces that there is some important story that could kill you if you don't know about it... tonight at 10PM. (and it is 7 in the morning. lol)
One pastor said to me , Sister Alear, come on to our church but don´t bring that black adopted son of yours...I thought, how rude...but just said ok...
