Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Maude Bates lived at a boarding house in Oakland in 1920. She was connected with Emma Cotton. Cotton was at Azusa Street and pastored in Oakland from 1924-1927. I am not sure what Cotton was doing in Oakland in 1920, but all but one of her boarders was black.
Maude Bates evangelized in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. By 1944, she was deputizing as a missionary to Africa.
That is where her trail goes cold.
Anyone know of her ??

She was eaten by cannibals.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Yes, the book project is winding down.
Today, access to a Tulare, Ca. newspaper came in and I am back in business. Garland Leonard, J.A. Johnsson, Mattie Crawford among others are found in old articles that reach back to 1906.
Some of it is filling in where Mattie Crawford preached and when. Some of it fills in bio data about Garland Leonard. No "new" old pictures came in today, but I am not finished mining data from this newspaper.
A few articles from the Pentecostal Outlook from the 1930's also came in this week. Included was data about the role Harry Morse played in the foreign missions department of the PCI. A few pics from those days were added to the imagery collection of pre WW2 Oneness Pentecostalism collection.
I really need to drive down to ST. Louis and dig through their Pentecostal Outlook archive. Since no issues of the old Gospel Tidings (CA UPC) have surfaced, I hope Hazelwood also has a collection from that old magazine.
The idea that more material is lost than found haunts finishing the book project. I have complied a long list of former students of Harry Morse from 1920-1942. But I probably have less than half than actually studied under him.
Today I did learn of a small Bible training school that flourished in Yakima, Washington in 1930. Until today, I did not know it even existed. More names of unknown evangelists were added to the list of unknown Oneness Pentecostal ministers from the 1930's.
The more complete the research, the greater value it will have to readers.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I don’t remember if I asked you but have you spoken with Dr. Gary Garrett with the Apostolic Archives here in Joplin?

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I wonder if Harry Morse believed that the New Testament was originally written in Hebrew? Or that Jesus should be called Yahvahasu? Did he blow a shofar frequently when he was taking up the offering? Would you be having a conversation with him and have him slip Hebrew words into the conversation?

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Harry stuck to English. He did not stick to only one Bible translation. But neither did his friend, Frank Ewart.
Today, I found it easier to trace the history of a single church, a Oneness church in Tulare, Ca. than to write the bio of a single person.
