What some of you my GOP friends don't understand is that if Ted Cruz or even Rand Paul had won the nomination, the GOP establishment would have destroyed them as well, like they destroyed Goldwater, and like they are destroying Trump now.Newt is right. The "dump Trump" GOP elite has egg on their face this morning. They have been rejected regardless of Trump's flaws, but they continue to live in a dream world convincing themselves that it is better to destroy Tump so one of their own can get the nomination in 2020. Oh, they don't plan on winning, mind you. They just want a "buffer candidate" to keep a conservative out. Win or lose, they are happy. Hillary will be re-elected in 2020. Deal with it.

Goldwater destroyed himself when he refused to back the CRA because of the two most powerful and effective provisions of the CRA to bring change to America's workplace.
Trump is destroying himself and apparently was a worthless candidate from the start.

Sorry, but neither Falwell nor InfoWars have any credibility.
Unbelievable that Trump supporters still defend Trump's bragging about sexually assaulting women. And it wasn't that he was joking about it or even saying he wanted to do it. He was talking of having done it.
It's disgusting so called Christians are defending this type of behavior. Then again, perhaps that's why churches have so many sex scandals ... woefully naïve and stupidly dismissive of this kind of issue.

Unless there is more in Cruz's past then we know, I believe he would be ahead of HRC at this point.
In fact, probably any Republican candidate, except Trump, would be ahead.

Straw man. Nobody is defending Trump's filthy speech. Stop hijacking the thread and deal with the fact Cruz would have been destroyed by now, betrayed and forsaken by his own party, whether he had actually done anything wrong or not.

You could very well be right.
The GOP establishment may very well rather have HRC then someone not beholden to them.
