If we are talking about the DS of Indiana, he is the one who pastored my uncle in Minnesota some years back. I know Bro. Stroup, because of my uncle and also because he granted me license in this district. Are there two Robert Stroup's?

First Pentecostal Church of Marion, Indiana is having an anniversary service Labor Day weekend. My ex-husband and I pastored there in the mid 1980's after the late L. Wm. Schmidt retired.

We have all been invited: my ex-husband and his wife, my children and their families, and myself. They have asked all previous living Pastors to speak.

I went to one of their anniversary services with my children and all the former Pastors were mentioned except for us. My children didn't understand why we were left out.

You know, I know Bro. & Sis. Harris, former UPCI missionaries to Europe are good people. They intend to post pictures of all of us during the series of services.

I am not sure how I feel about going. I feel that peace between former saints and myself have been resolved, forgiven, and we have all went on with our lives. I know that I was an integral part of the ministry at FPC as assistant in 1979-1980, as well as pastors wife for many years.

I am not sure it would be a good idea to go and have all the past drug up and then have to worry about the ex and his present wife and all that family junk I just went through for my son's wedding.

Should I go? Do I have a right to go? Will it accomplish anything or make things more uncomfortable?

I would sincerely appreciate your thoughts. Be aware that my ex-husband's wife and my daughter-in-law read these posts and are on this forum quite often.

Blessings, Rhoni

Since you asked for our opinons here is mine. I can't see anthing good possibly coming out of you going.

All it will do is bring back memories of a difficult period of time for the church. All have moved on with their lives and there is no need to "stir the pot" so to speak by an appearance.

ILG, CC1, Trouvere, and Sarah,

You are so right...I have been working so very hard for the past year to leave the past behind and set up healthy and appropriate boundaries with everyone...

I agree; it would bring up a difficult period of time for my family as well as the church, and the past does not identify or is not indicative of my future.

There is no desire in Rhonda to go: too much hurt and pain, and Rhoni would just want equal pulpit time if they let my ex testify! It is a reunion of sorts and I am not longer connected to that church in any way.

Thank-you all for telling/advising me of what I already knew in my heart was right.

Blessings, Rhoni

Robert Stroup the DS of Indiana was born in Anderson, IN, went to ABI, after leaving the Air Force, met and married Diane. He did indeed assist Bro. Kinzie in Toledo and then pastored the church in Virginia, MN for several years. They moved to the Gary, IN area 35 years ago and has been the pastor of the church in Merrillville, IN for the last 35 years.
So yes you are both, most likely, talking about the same person.

How does one find a thread from five years ago to respond to?

Or better yet, why?
