Re: Another GOP CROOK bites the dust.
The article even said the jury and judge used the broadest term possible. It was a stretch.
Let's be clear, libs, there were no bills, legislation or any other political deals made with that businessman. He simply was introduced to influential people.
This happens all the time with politicians. People pay obscene amounts of money to a political campaign to eat dinner with a President, VP or member of Congress, during which they are able to meet influential people.
From the article: "Prosecutors didn't accuse Mr. McDonnell of issuing a government contract, said Patrick O'Donnell, who specializes in defending public officials accused of corruption.
'The 'official acts' they allege was putting Jonnie Williams in touch with people, and using the aura of the office to promote Star Scientific,' Mr. O'Donnell said. 'That's the broadest definition I've seen.'"
Don't let the facts confuse you liberals.

Re: Another GOP CROOK bites the dust.
Consider this, during obama's push for his healthcare bill, he promised Louisiana's Sen. Mary Landrieu extra Medicare funds. It was coined The Louisiana Purchase. It was supposed to be $200 million, but a "typo" caused the final amount to be $4.3 BILLION. Those funds bought Landrieu's support for obamacare.
THAT is corruption. Not the former Governor accepting a rolex, golf bag and rides in a Ferrari in exchange for introducing a businessman to people.
In fact, there was a campaign last year or the year before by obama where people could pay (donate to obama's pac) to meet the President.
You want to call McDonnell a crook, you better be willing to accept obama and other Democrats are crooks as well.

Good stuff David.
How about the Clintons renting out he Lincoln Bedroom? Hillary making mind blowing amounts of money investing very little money? Crooks abound in both parties.

Exactly. Money and gifts have always bought access to influential people.
Had their been evidence McDonnell arranged legislation or did something politically for the man, then yes, he would be guilty. As it is, I'm surprised they reached a guilty verdict. And I wonder if it was truly the evidence which caused the Jury to find him guilty, or if it was anger against a politician which caused the guilty verdict.
I'd be surprised if this wasn't appealed.
