...Using a Vitamix and drinking smoothies of fruit, greens, or bacon, cannot get you on the road to health unless you get up and exercise. Not just walking around your block, but cardio for at least an hour, and (if weights are too much for you) calisthenics using your own body weight will help tremendously. You would be surprised what a 20.00 chin up bar placed in the doorway of a room in your home could do for you. So combine your Vitamix smoothies with some good cardio and calisthenics.
On the flip side, exercising doesn't cancel out unhealthy eating habits. My opinion is that if you exercise regularly and eat healthy most of the time, you can have junk occasionally without terrible consequences. However, if you consistently feed your body junk, no amount of exercise is going to prevent future health problems or cure current ones.
Btw, I recently read a couple of articles promoting heavier lifting and short spurts of cardio instead of extended cardio. Lengthy bouts of low intensity cardio (particularly early in the day) can cause a loss in muscle mass (by increasing stress hormone/cortisol levels, for one thing), which in turn makes it even more difficult to keep off weight. The article suggested doing intense cardio for 4 minute intervals with rests in between. I posted a couple of links below. Bottom line, losing muscle mass is the enemy to burning calories since muscle burns more calories than fat even at rest, and heavy duty cardio leads to a loss in muscle mass. (I THINK I have that science straight.) People who do lots of cardio may be thin, but they usually don't have a good amount of muscle mass, either. It's important to remember that simply being thin isn't a sign of good health.
I own a Nutri Bullet by Magic Bullet. It's a blender, not a juicer. It is an excellent blender. I was dunking lots of liquid kale for several weeks.
My Mom has a juicer, but I prefer to keep my pulp, so a blender works well for me.

Yup! I bought the Nutribullet at Costco for $79.99. It came with the large blender cup, plus 3 smaller cups, and lids. I have been drinking a green smoothie for breakfast for several days now, and feel much, much better in the mornings. I am not a big breakfast eater, and the smoothie has been a great way to get my morning started.
Since kale is available here fresh and cheap - $2.00 for huge bundle at the local farmer's market, I have been making my green smoothie with the following ingredients:
2 cups kale
1 cup mixed fruit (banana, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches etc.)
1-1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp chia seeds
This is a wonderful investment for your health, and I highly recommend the Nutribullet to anyone who is wanting a better smoothie than a typical blender, but can't afford the high dollar Vitamix. And I like the fact that I can add a lid to the cup that I blended the smoothie in and drink it as I go.
I also purchased a NB a month or so ago and I LOVE it. Mine was pretty much free, since I had a $100 rewards coupon for Best Buy and it was $99. That makes it a much sweeter deal, but it is a fabulous blender/smoothie-maker.
I'm going to try your green smoothie recipe.

I agree with your statement about exercise and eating right going hand in hand. Many of the things we've been led to believe that are "good" for us are being studied more closely, and scientists are realizing that things they thought were facts are just not so.
I've come to peace with living life in moderation as much as possible, and to follow my "gut" feeling on how my body reacts to things, and not just putting stock in what some "study" may say otherwise.

What kind of smoothies do you make with your NB?
I've been messing with kale/spinach + any fruit I have on hand + a little water. I haven't referred to many recipes, so my first few tries were a little hard to get down. :P I did try and like this recipe:
2 cups spinach leaves, packed
1 ripe pear, peeled, cored, and chopped
15 green or red grapes
6 ounces fat-free plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons chopped avocado
1 or 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
