1. I did not imply that those that came out of the world were condemned by people over tatoos. HOWEVER, if tatoos are condemned by the church as evil then I do think it will be hard for someone to get saved and not be ashamed of their visible tatoos everytime they walk into church.
I do think shame and regret are normal reactions that saved people should have about sin. I question the future of anyone who glories in their past life of sin.
Therefore, I think the church should carefully consider how big of deal they want to make out of something not found in Scripture with no easy solution to change.
2. What is your other point? I am unaware of anyone so far seriously advocating tatoos.
3. What would you have Sherri do? Throw her kids out and/or treat them as prodical kids for getting tatoos that identify them as followeres of Jesus?
ONCE A CHILD GETS A TATOO; there is no EASY FIX. ARE we ready to turn our back on young people because of youthful judgment about something not spoken of in Scripture? NOT I! NO. NOT GOING TO DO IT.

What could Sherri do? My kids have done lots of things that I would not do or could not even understand the why's...
Sherri, love them and be glad they go to church and love God. No, we may not always see eye to eye with our kids but thank the Lord they are not on dope, being hunt down by the police and things like that...
I have hung my heard in shame at several things my kids have done but I love them and love is one of the greatest virtues and sadly that is missing many times on this board.
It is so hard to know the "right" thing to do in the many things of life...I have made PAINFUL wrong decisions in my life so I generally refrain from judging unless it falls my lot to have to decide certain matters that come across our desk.
People are just people and mistakes are part of being human. My, what courage you have to put it on this board...I don't know if I would have that courage!
I used to have prison services when we lived in the south. One day one of the boys said to me, "Missionary, can I touch your arm..." (We were not supposed to have any physical contact, not even shake their hands. They were young BUT very dangerous) I looked at him and said, Yes"...He stood there just rubbing my arm, tears streaming down his cheeks saying, " I wish you were my mom...I would not have been in this place for life..."
Love them...love covers a multitude of sins.

Beautiful post.... (and very telling comment of the prisoner). God grant us wisdom to deal with life as it is (pertaining to our children); instead of being mired in regret for what it is not.

I have a friend that has 'religious tattoos' too. He's from a Christian background, not Pentecostal. He's a pretty clean cut guy in regard to not being into drugs and alcohol and what not. He said he got his tattoos as a witness to others, of sorts. He has an iron cross on the top side of each arm, close to the wrist (I think maybe those are just more for looks than being specifically religiously significant...lol...) and on the inside of his right forearm he has a resurrected Jesus, inside of left forearm is Jesus in the Good Shepard pose, and his entire back has a huge crucifixion scene. lol

If I understand this correctly Tattos come from Babylon I think they were markings for dead people and the worship of the dead.
I would not let my daughters have tatoos I don't like the look.
To me they look worldy ,JMHO I'm stoning not anyone but I would rather that my children would not do that.
I'll try to dig out the info and find a link on the origin of tatoos.

I am thankful that my children have no tattoos. We should pray for those whose children are getting tattooed. Most likely, these decisions made in their youth will be regretted when they are older. I think I read that at least 70% of those who get tattoos regret this later in life. Let's pray and not throw stones. I know it must be heartbreaking.

Thad, this is just plain mean. You should be ashamed of yourself!

I understand that you cannot control what your grown kids and for that I do not blame Sherri. I don't think you can do anything nor do i think you should disown them for a Tattoo. what i was surprised about is that she is fine with it, seemed to advocate it.
As far as the other, you need to know the history. this person has been hurling repeated insults for days and i kept putting up with it. I petitioned the admin. team that if it didn't stop or they didn't do something i was going take matters into my own hands. the best thing you could do is stay out of it.
