So on what grounds would we cast people into hell for having them? Curious...

No biblical mandate againts heroin, smoking, sodomy in marriage, wearing speedos, tongue rings, belly rings, men wearing women performs, gambling, cigars, ectasy, s&m, R rated moives, bikinies and on and on and on......

We don't need scripture for every detail, it's called discernment.

However, there IS strong scripture against gossiping, bearing false witness, vanity, pride, and coarse conversation, idle conversation, etc. and all of those things seem to be accepted in our ranks with no issue. As long as you look "right".

There are human imperfections in everyone
This sounds like the same excuse people give for not going to church at all.

Hahahaha, come on Thad, you can do better than that!

What the Bible calls sin, you call "human imperfections".

Well, then, a woman cutting her hair is a human imperfection. A tattoo is a human imperfection.

Come on, I expected a stronger defense than that!

True indeed! No humility no holiness. No love no Holiness.

We have lowered holiness to just clothes and standards when without love we are unholy. But that doesn't take away that we are to be holy in ALL manner of living. Just that outward is easier to do and recognize, gives a false sense of security but doesn't take away from outward holiness though.

Clothes is the easy part! actaully being like Christ is a whole nother ball game!

I actually agree with this post! Thanks for recognizing my point.

I have no problem with folks who feel that the outward appearance is a part of holiness, as long as they recognize that it's an outward manifestation of an inward state of the heart, and not the "end all" to holiness.

I never relegated human imperfections to Non Sins. It's still no excuse to willfully tattoo ones body because others do wrong

The tattooing is not even the issue now, Thad. And, believe me, I'm not picking on you, again I'm using this as a perfect example as to how we were taught and raised.

We take things that have no real scriptural edict, just tradition in most cases, and make them "hell splitting sins".
And, then, we take things that have DIRECT scriptural correlation, and say, "Well, they're just human imperfections".

That's our way of excusing our own actions.

It's perfectly accepted in our ranks, and on this forum, for someone to pass on a story that they heard from a friend that may, or may not be true, and we excuse it by saying, "Well, that's just how they are - human imperfection", etc.

I'm just tired of the double standard. If we're going to castigate people over what we perceive to be "sin", let's be consistent.

Remove the beam from our own eye before we try and get the toothpick out of our brother's eye.
