It never should have gone to trial. The only reason it did is because of big Al, Obama and the mob of people who would've burned Sanford to the ground if it hadn't gone to trial.

And if GZ walks, it'll be the Rodney King riots all over again. And for the record, I think those cops should have been locked up. They brutally beat Rodney King and should have been found guilty. I could not believe they all walked free. I'll even say people were justified to riot over that case....though not justified in targeting whites to beat down.

GZ is NOT those cops. He followed out of how he was trained. He was ambushed and beat down. He shot because he didn't have any other choice. That 6'0" 17 year old with tats was on him and wasn't going to let GZ up off the ground alive.

SADLY, these cases did not garner international or national media attention.
SADLY, these cases did galvanize the nation to demand legal action.

When the President said what he said, it was at the height of the media buzz and widespread protests across the country related to this case.

As the President of this country, many would argue that he had a duty to be a voice of reason in the middle of this tragedy-- and he was.

There was nothing that he said that was inappropriate.

The President didn't divide us-- the media did. Besides, we really weren't that divided-- there were plenty of people of all races from all over the country participating in demonstrations for the purpose of demanding legal action.


The President made one error in the beginning of his Presidency, and everyone else in the country has moved on, except for you.

It's depressing, that's why I haven't posted much on this thread.

I know what happened to Trayvon Martin.

He was only 17, so young and unaware of any world other than his own.

His age and his naievete drove his response and when he felt that "flight" was no longer an option, he had to "fight".

The defendant was fed-up with the crime happening in his neighborhood. His sense of moral courage, ego and prejudice drove his actions and when he realized that "flight" was not an option, he used his weapon and killed the 17 year old.

Just a poor wittle bwack boy with skittles in his pocket who know doubt sounded like Russel, Fat Alberts younger brother, when he talked.

And I am so sick and tired of CNN continuing to show pictures of him when he was 12 and 13 and still "wittle".

I don't know whether or not it SHOULD have gone to trial but judging from what I heard so far, it should not have but I believe you are correct that the ONLY reason this went to trial is public pressure.

This isn't lawful justice but SOCIAL justice and that is one reason America is screwed up

He was not the voice of reason. His voice was that of division. Had this been a white President saying the same about a white young man, you wouldn't be saying this.

Whether the Prosecution has a case or not, GZ MUST be convicted to appease the racists and to avoid riots, looting, and mayhem.

An Hispanic neighborhood watch person is doing his job. It wound up with a person of one "minority" group (African American) being killed by a member of another "minority" group (Hispanic) but the one killed is portrayed as an innocent child and the one who did the killing is portrayed as a "white" cracker.
