actually he put the ring on his finger...you don't put a neclace on a hand

A close study reveals that this redundant conclusion is bogus.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

With respect to apparel, Peter is saying that we should not let our outward adorning be that of apparel that adorns. In other words..fancy dress.

In the Greek, the over used liberal conclusion and argument falls short of the truth and in no wise suggests that fancy hair and wearing gold is acceptable here.

Paul's teaching in 1 Tim 2:9 runs parallel in symphonic tandem and dispels any notion that 1 Peter 3:3 gives allowance by way of any short sighted liberal notions and craftiness.

1 Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

I realize that this bumps up against the whole Pentecostal Dog and Pony show, but I didn't write it.

If it had been left up to me, I would have said:

Bring out Foo Foo the flipping poodle, but somehow I'm thankful that his ways are not man's ways.

To him Gold is what you walk on.

so does a wedding ring, a tie clip, and alligator shoes.

I am NOT saying it is a necklace but rather a strap placed on the hand used for sealing documents. Not an ornament.

It was either a necklace (worn around the neck) or a finger ring. Now, according to what I posted that is what a signet ring was, however in this case the greek is a finger ring AND they put the ring ON his hand, not around his neck. either way it is an ornament. It's just as much an ornament as a wedding ring is, which also has purpose

according to what I just posted brother, a signet was either worn ON the finger or AROUND the neck on a cord.
Oh, using your logic here a wedding band is NOT an ornament but is used to show someone is married

Then allow me to design the ring and we will find out if it is an ornament or not.

It happened once that I know of at the First Apostolic Church at Tulsa, OK. where the late C. P. Williams pastored. I heard the story from more than one who was there the ring broke in several pieces and fell off the sister's hand. She had just told her husband not even God could take the wedding ring off her hand. But it fell apart and she screamed to the top of her lungs.

What Christian would say such a thing? Sounds very suspect?
