Re: Former Memphis area pastor preaching a confere

"Church" is a business for some, a racket and even a vocation. One does not need the Holy Ghost or a calling to run a business and attract a following

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

From what I understand, the grandson Gabe (Donny's oldest son) is being groomed to lead the ministry. He has much more charisma and speaking ability than his dad. Also hopefully more character than his predecessors. He was a friend of our family when he and our daughter went to college together - I liked Gabe a lot.

The problem with the restoration process is everyone has an opinion on how to do it and are critical of other methods

I wouldn't know how to do it. Who do we trust to do it? That might be part of the problem.

THISx10. I work in limited capacity of ministry these days. I am toward the end of a long process (seven yrs)of restoration. My down fall was not of some huge moral failure but of severe burn-out that required time and therapy and ultimately healing from God . I also had a huge struggle with forgiveness that only God could get me through. Please do not take the following comments to be approval of, excusing or over looking sin. While I cant speak from the perspective of recovering from something like TBs situation I can say restoration is a long process that requires an Understanding of the situation,Commitment on the part of the person involved, Patience, Grace and unconditional Love of those close to the situation. Those on the outside need to do the christian thing and pray. The guy on the outside looking in really has no clue what really is going on. From my experience, much of my struggles have been dealing with those that have unrealistic expectations of ministry and me personally. It has taken me years to get to the point where I can talk about this and I plan to share more on this in the weeks to come. Let me add, some people are just bold in their judgements and this only makes things worse. God saw their fault and He is watching our response to it. We need to let God be God in the situation and mind the beams in our own eye.

So, is there such a thing as a "saint restoration" in these cases (such as TB's)? Are they expected to just bend over and take it when the minister and his district guy say he is officially restored and needs to be followed again as the "man of gawd!"?

The talk (and some of it rightfully so) has been about TB being restored to his former glory as head of a church in some capacity. Or that is what I (and probably most) assume when speaking of any apostolic minister of a certain long standing reputation who held the reigns over a sizable church body.

What about the saints in his church, or any congregation which suffers something similar? How long before they should be forced to deal and "sub-mitttt <spit>" to another "man of gawd!" in the same unconditional manner that they had prior to their pastor screwing them over?

I am being rather sarcastic here, but I am also dead serious in my questions.
