Re: apostolic,penticostal

hey Blue, welcome to the site. I'll give you my take on it. And I'm sure others will give you theirs as well.

"Pentecostal" is a reference to the book of acts when the Holy Ghost was poured out on the day of pentecost. Refer to Acts Chapter 2.

"Apostolic" is a reference to those who follow the teachings of Jesus' disciples as recorded in the New Testament.

Re: apostolic,penticostal

I took this from my favorite moderators signature:

Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: apostolic,penticostal

Bluegrassdad, to answer your first question. I alway thought, Pentecostal and Apostolic were the same. And they should be. Because the book of Acts is the only book in the Bible that teaches people how to be saved. And Jesus left the Apostles to set up the Church nd they did so in the book of ACTS.

Therefore the Apostolic Doctrine should be what the Apostles taught after Pentecost.
And the Pentecostal Doctrine, should be the same, as was taught on the Day of Pentecost.

However, I am finding on this Forum, not everyone that claim to be Pentecostal or Apostolic, actually are.

BGdad asked,

I don't know of any churches that do.. But I Teach that soon we will go through the Religious Persecution, from the One World Religion. When this happens, there will be great tribulation.

Sister Renee I am Pentecostal and all that entails, however I no longer hold to what some consider to be Apostolic teachings.
