Yes, the word translated "scripture" in the NT literally means "writing", though it seems clear that the NT writers meant more than just that.
For the purpose of this thread, I am talking about writings that are purported to be inspired by God, and the result being just what God wanted it to be. In other words: the Bible.
But the contents of the Bible are not universally agreed on, as I showed in the first post. But I'm honestly surprised that still nobody has said those 66 I listed are the right ones! I thought nearly all AFFers would think so.
I'm not.
It would not surprise me in the least if one or more books that ARE there shouldn't be and one or more that are not, should. I'm just estimating the "1 or 2". Could be more!
I believe the 66 books are God ordained to be the bible. Interestingly enough, the candlestick in the tabernacle had 22 knops, 22 flowers and 22 buds. 54 on the six branches, and 12 on the shaft. 66. The light unto our pathway.

"Many Christians do not try to understand what was written in a verse in the Bible. Instead they approach the passage to prove what they already believe."

OK. Which ones?

(Sorry, missed this until just now. )
Interesting. And lucky that some books, like Samuel, were split in two, so the numbers come out "right".
Is there 27 or 39 of anything in the Bible?

In a way, perhaps. Most Christians I know simply accept what certain others before have already done, in this regard. Namely, the people who formed the 66-book canon some call "The Bible". But yes, they have decided which canon to accept and which ones to reject.
