Sis. Priscilla McGruder did that when she was fighting cancer and said that she was "standing on the Word." I don't think she was disrespecting God's Word.

Re: Standing on the Pulpit.........

Yes, Sister McGruder told me that herself...loved her much.

I think we must understand the reasons behind each persons actions.

While all things must be decent and in order God honors our faith and sometime I believe HE actually tells us to do some things ...just as there is a thin line so to speak between a genius and an idoit there is a thin line between right and wrong...respect and disrespect at times....

God often uses foolish things to confound the wise however I do not believe it is an every night happening...God does give us common sense too....

Stand, schmand. What about someone who tears out pages of the Bible and eats them?

Re: Standing on the Pulpit.........

In all my years around Pentecostal churches, I've never seen anyone stand on the pulpit. That's a new one.
I guess I've seen about everything else though.

And some of you will be glad to know that we had runners everywhere last Wednesday night!!! And I was in Wisconsin and missed it all. But we had a great service there too.

Re: Standing on the Pulpit.........

If someone wants to stand on a pulpit, knock yourself out.

Just don't expect me to be impressed....

The times I have seen bizarre calisthenics or dramatic physical demonstrations I got the strange feeling it was done for special effect and there was an expectation of applause... which is fine I suppose, but personally, I think even a 2-ring circus does it better.

If a preacher stood on a pulpit and fell off he might knock himself out.
