With all the energy, time, and money we put into the political machine to stop a bunch of gay people from doing what we disagree with... we could have evangelized half of America.
This world is not our home. We are strangers and pilgrims here.
This world will NEVER reflect the values of God. Only the church will, a light in a darkened world are we.
Let's not get so caught up with trying to control others. Let's live our lives in peace and queitness, always sharing the power and love of Jesus. And take a stand when it personally pertains to us and our churches.
You're not getting it. It's not okay to force your values on someone. If they do force their values on us... it's an opportunity to actually take a stand for what we DO believe in without trying to use the law to control the lives of other people. I'd rather be the persecuted than the persecutor. Historically the church has always been hideously hated by the people when forcing her beliefs on the population. However, when the church has been a sincere and persecuted people... we've flurished and often served with inspiring testimonies.
I say let them have the rights they desire under the principles of human liberty. However, take a stand when they attempt to infringe on our liberties.
You know what confuses me, the whole military Dont Ask Dont Tell policy.
What is wrong with that for the homosexual men and women in the military?
How can it hurt them?
Being heterosexual, if I were in the military, I would not want to undress or sleep aroung folk that may find me yummy. I think that would effect my comfort level.
Why would homosexuals WANT me to know about anything thats going on in their minds and loins?
They are not being STOPPED from serving in the military - but they want to get inside of my brain. Why is that necessary?
Some of you folks could use a little help, so here's a website dedicated to the continued forbidding of gay marriage, http://www.nationformarriage.org/sit....BEC6/Home.htm, with a handy "Talking Points" page to help with suggested answers to common questions. For example, ever wonder how to explain how legalizing gay marriage would hurt anyone? Here ya go:
4. What’s the harm from SSM? “How can Adam and Steve hurt your marriage?”
A: “Who gets harmed? The people of this state who lose our right to define marriage as the union of husband and wife, that’s who. That is just not right.”
Yes. It hurts the people who want to prohibit it. So now ya know.
How does heterosexual marriage or marriage in general benefit society?
The majority of society claiming that something is right or wrong, does not in fact make it right or wrong. Examples: Nazi Germany, Post Civil War South (KKK), and the imprisonment of Japanese Americans during the Second World War.
Where should I start?
Having children first of all benefits a society in that it doesn't become extinct.
2 gays can not benefit a society by biological reproduction. it always takes an egg and a sperm.
I will say that looking at drug use, crime rates, longevity and most any other measure, children do better when raised by their mother and father both in their home.
Your societies example were bad and false examples.
Hitler ran Germany and not the society. You just gave examples of dictators which ignored the will of the people.
I take it you have zero reasearch to show the benefit of gay marriage?

That is about as irrational as it gets. They want to control marriage. I say no.
Tell them to not try to control normal people and traditions.

Doesn't require much energy, just don't let them marry. Not complicated.

Preferred treatment is when I am allowed to marry the one I love in the church we attend. And another couple isn't allowed to marry the one they love in the church they attend.
Let's see, arguing with Coadie or . Hmm. I think I choose .

The truth is most gays want deliverance. Most intimidated politically correct people can't promise a deliveror that can deliver them.
I think the real question is, do we believe that all of us have the right to the same benefits? Shelter, clothing, food, health care.
