Yea the little people (BP called them that) are assured of some compensation before BP files bankruptcy. BP filing bankruptcy wouldn't bother you though.
To bad you don't make your living on the Gulf.

I like Joe Barton but on this it was a boneheaded comment. It was idiotic. period no justification.

however, you gotta give the guy a pass on the "little people" comment.

The guy that said it is not a native English speaker and comes from a very different culture with very different idioms.

I am sure he meant "regular" or what ever.

That does not mean that BP is not at fauld and BP certainly is on the hook for every dime of the clean up and putting people right.

What was a bonehead comment? I have to agree with him.

But if BP no longer stands for British Petroleum, then what does it stand for?

Esther, first of all even if Bonehead was right (and I am not saying he is) politically saying that was stupid.

Second, he was wrong. On the first hand, BP had already floated the idea of a 20Billion dollar escrow account before meeting with BHO.

So that means there wasnt a shakedown. it was in their plan. Second, as bad as Obama is handling this (and it is aweful) there is no question that BP is on the hook for every dime and they have been dragging their feet in paying claims.

Barton not only was factually wrong but he also put republicans on defense on an issue where republicans have been WINNING on offense!

It was beyond stupid. it was myopic and it leaves swing voters thinking Republicans are in the hip pockets of this think called "big oil"

It was moronic. I would like to see his mamma bend him over her knee and spank his rear end for saying it!
