Just because I don't like an editorial in the newspaper doesn't mean I'm going to stop reading the paper, and it doesn't make me a hypocrite if I DO read the paper.
Thank you! I was going to say that exact thing.....but, as usual you did it better!

And, you could still preach against that newspaper printing things you don't like!

I was thinking about the recent incident in Times Square and other violent examples of "Muslim outrage" over the years. When those Danish cartoons were published the imans also Photoshopped several other pictures and added them to the group claiming that they were all "cartoons" defaming the Prophet.

There is a lot of rage and indignation that is simply manufactured. We see this in radical Islam and we see it in our own pulpits. A big part of our problem is that our "best and brightest" either don't go into or don't stay in the ministry. Our "cream" doesn't "rise to the top," it runs out the door. The same can be said for the clergy in the Muslim world.

To take J. Franklin's lampooning of his own CoG roots and bewailing it as if he were a "backslidden" UPC preacher is to manufacture "outrage." It just doesn't ring true.

So, why the outrage? It seems to be the last gasp attempts of those with little left to hang on to. They have bartered their true heritage for a bowl of pottage, and found hair in their soup to boot.

They really have no one to blame but themselves; but since they manufactured the "old paths" by copying a Baptist trick, the only way forward that they appear to be able to see is to manufacture outrage when folks refuse to play along with their games.

Not even close. To be willing to listen to the views expressed on AFF is to display a willingness to listen. It is the display of a commendable quality.

The other thing that you mention is just schtoopid.

And reading AFF is NOT like "visiting a porn site."

AFF is a forum. Lots of different views... even if some views have to lurk in the shadows because their earlier boasting proved untenable.

One thing is to read .... the other is to participate. There is a tacit approval of the platform in general when one signs up and becomes a member .... even if one does not agree 100% ....

It was that very fact that eventually forced the Doug White's of the world to have to "graciously" exit.

Disingenuous to me is:

*Preaching against TV and having one in your home
*Preaching against porn and looking at it on the computer
*Preaching against men wearing shorts, but wearing them yourself on vacation
*Preaching against drinking any alcohol, yet having some wine with your dinner for "health" purposes
*Preaching tithing, and saying if you don't you're "robbing God" and then cheating on your income tax

And on and on it goes.............THAT is disingenous to me, coming to AFF, reading some posts, and then mentioning your concern at what you read is not disingenous.

And yet, Dan, you come on here, post, disagree with nearly every conservative poster, talk about how ridiculous their archaic antiquated view of holiness is, I'm quite SURE you mention things in public setting that you read here on AFF and how misguided these poor posters are, and yet you come back day after day after day.......to fight the good fight, post your thoughts, and share your ideals.

So........how would it be any different for PM to do the same?

To modify the list somewhat.....

Or NOT having a "TV" but watching video's on YouTube or Hullu or even stopping for a few minutes to watch the department store set.

*Preaching against porn and looking at it on the computer
Or NOT looking at it but THINKING about it. There have been some here who've said someone desiring a homosexual relationship but knowing it is wrong and not engaging in it is JUST as bad as doing it -so you might as well go all the way.

*Preaching against men wearing shorts, but wearing them yourself on vacation
Or spending money at a shop that even SELLS them. Thus giving a measure of approval to the practice of wearing them.

*Preaching against drinking any alcohol, yet having some wine with your dinner for "health" purposes
Or taking NyQuil or any other cough medicine that contains it.

*Preaching tithing, and saying if you don't you're "robbing God" and then cheating on your income tax
Or being capable of giving (which tithing ISN'T -giving that is) so much more but not because you fulfilled your 10/15% requirement.

And on and on it goes.............THAT is disingenous to me, coming to AFF, reading some posts, and then mentioning your concern at what you read is not disingenous.

Re: Perspectives Sounding Social Network Alarms

I think PM's right to say what he did in the Perspective. Most of the conservative posters no longer post here because of that reason. Anyone that is a con and stands up for what they believe is ridiculed & made fun of.
And I don't consider PM irrevelant & losing touch with reality. He has an incredible amount of influence with young minsters via the Bible school. And is loved & respected by everyone who knows him and has worked with him.
It's easy to sit on a computer and make fun of everyone you disagree with or who are more conservative than you are. While the ones your ridiculing don't have time to post all the time because they're pastoring, teaching, etc.
