Food Prices

Take a look a this USDA food chart for 2009. Where do you fit in?

http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/Publication...fFoodJan09.pdf

Do you fit into the Thrifty plan? The low-cost plan? the moderate cost plan or the liberal plan?

From that chart, my family varies from thrift to low cost plans.

Re: Food Prices

Right now we're on a bigger budget--but that still puts us in the low-cost plan. For our family of 6, I have bought groceries for a week on $125 or less--but that's squeezing things pretty tight. Our kids eat at home three meals a day--none at school--so that's a factor.

If we were in the "liberal" plan, I could shop at Whole Foods on a regular basis.

Re: Food Prices

I would love to shop at Whole Foods all the time! Out of the budget, though.

Me, too, but I can rarely afford to buy a whole order of groceries there. It is fun to go when I have extra or need a rare item. And I LOVE, love, LOVE the on-site masseuse. $1/minute--and who can't spare $15 for a little TLC????
